From the beeb article:
Quote:

Article 179b of the international sporting code says: "If, in events forming part of an FIA championship, a new element is discovered, whether or not the stewards of the meeting have already given a ruling, these stewards of the meeting or, failing this, those designated by the FIA must meet… summoning the party or parties concerned to hear any relevant explanations and to judge in the light of the facts and elements brought before them."

It adds: "The period during which an appeal in review may be brought expires on 30 November of the year during which the decision that is liable to review has been handed down, if that decision is likely to have an effect on the result of a championship."

They have until tomorrow to not do anything about it and then then they don't need to....

http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2012/11/will...video-evidence/

There are two pieces of evidence on this James Allen article one is a photo which JA says is less conclusive because it could have been doctored, the other is a video.

It shows a marshall waving a flag, it's tough to see, but it doesn't look yellow, but with the light behind it's very hard to tell. In my opinion it could be green.

This article is suggesting the whole thing is history and non punishable

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/104645

But this worries me a little, not regarding the incident, but just the idea of clarity

Quote:

The separation of these two posts was about 350 metres and FIA race director Charlie Whiting has made it clear to drivers since lights were introduced more than five years ago that when there are consecutive signals from both a flag and a light, it is the first one that counts.

This would presume that there was only ONE yellow flag incident going on at a time. If a gree flag wipes out a yellow light what if the yellow light is indicating another yellow flag incident further on.

Nothing is ever simple, no wonder the FIA are having trouble administering the rules.

We say flags but are these electronic signs? if so, is there not a record of what was showing at what time.

There seems to be mounting evidence that Vettel's move on Lap 4 was legal after all... If this happened on Lap 4 (of a 71 Lap race) it should really have been spotted and challanged before the race ended nearly two hours later let alone days later.

Still, if nothing else it has madefor an interesting talking/discussion point in a time when F1 begins to hibernate.

I hear RBR invented a device that changes all yellow flags to green on publication. Clever guys over there at Red Bull or maybe it's something they put in the drinks?

On a side note, I have never consumed Red Bull in my life but I am under the impression that it's very popular at 'raves'.

Kind of ironic that it's a drink all about speed, but not the racing kind.

On a drive from Holyhead to London once I purchased a tin of RB at services to see if it would stave off tireness... it tasted awful and I use black coffee now.

Have you posted in the right forum.... <think>

It's a funny video but it's relevance to the topic in hand eludes me. <huh>

Charlie Whiting in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport said:

"If the lights are not installed at a flag post the driver responds to the first signal that is shown. In Vettel's case, between the last yellow light and the green light there was a green flag being waved. The distance is 350 metres here. Vettel responded to the flag and did everything right."

Hopefully this will be an end to it.
