Alonso only lost his lead in Japan with that DNF and only because Seb gained a full 25 points... without that result Alonso would would be leading still. That said, Seb would still be reducing Alonso lead race after race since Japan so it would still go to the last race. As for it being Vettel's turn to get punted... Alonso has had two DNF's and 16 points finishes so far, while Seb has had 15 points finishes and only one DNF, but he has also started from the back in one race and has had a 22nd place finish in Italy which dropped him from second to fourth in the standings so I think both have suffered their share of poor results. I would much rather see both drivers race each other to the end whomever finishes on top than have either suffer a DNF at this stage.

Somehow strange to think about, but whoever of Alonso or Vettel wins the WDC this year, they will join the exclusive club of Juan Manuel Fangio, Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, Nélson Piquet, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. That is how good they are. |
