I'm not referring to this race, per se. I'm saying that if any other driver had started from the pitlane like Vettel did, with the race happening like it did, anyone could have climbed as high as Vettel did. Just so happens that Vettel got the luck today. |

Regarding podium swearing. Could we see fines or something? You know what the FIA is like. |

Yes, but it's annoying that he gets this luck to effectively cancel out the cheating of yesterday! |

NASCAR fines drivers for swearing in the media, for bringing the sport into disrepute. I expect Kimi will be asked to give more of a sh1t in future, and Red Bull will say Seb's language coach is to blame for choosing the wrong words for his vocabulary. |

We could see fines, I suppose. I would publically ignore it, if I was the FIA. A quiet word should suffice. |

Is John in some kind of relationship with Vettel? Vettel has that amazing combination of supreme talent and incredible good luck. Even when he has a major set back things just fall into place for him. Not everyone has that. |

Yes... it is called a Driver/Fan relationship and is fairly common amongst supporters in most motorsports... have you never read a certain TPL members comments about Jenson...
Drivers make their own luck, the conditions were the same for everyone, Alonso failled to make more progress when the field closed up... with a championship at stake I expected more to be honest. |

Alonso said they predicted he'd end up sixth. I think finishing under a second behind the winner is pretty good against that. If he'd managed to figure out how to sort out the issues after first restart so he was faster after the second Vettel car period, maybe he'd have had a better chance against Kimi. If there hadn't been a Vettel car period, Seb would have had another dozen or so seconds to make up, but at least he wouldn't have flattened the DRS board and had to change the wing, and be forced onto a two stop scenario. Quite why you mash the throttle when the drive infront of you has backed off and is about to hit the brakes is beyond me, but like Webber, Vettel seems to think that no-one else is allowed on the tarmac that he wants.... |

Vettel wasn't lucky really, he did drive well for sure, but the above quote says it all. To put it into perspective, Button did something similar with several incidents during a race and having to start relatively from the back twice I think and still won in Canada, but it was a wet race, so if anything car performance differences were kind of neutralized. I think Vettel is fast but I am a critic and I am not a fan (of his racing at least). Vettel regularly went off track to minimize speed loss when coming out of corners, once he had to give a place back for overtaking. While it's not really his fault if the car can handle going off track because there is not enough punishment to stay within the white lines, it's really annoying when everyone else is 'honouring' the corner and losing speed and he does not. It's not that I believe in fair play in the least, winners are winners, but if an athlete x beats athlete y because he has better shoes the value of athlete x's talent skill ability should surely come into question. It's not then about ability, it becomes about who has the best shoes. |
