He had no where else to go so no real surprises there...

I actually think it's a good place to be, while they have not threatened the front, last time I looked Kimi was P3 in the standings, and despite what Eric has said about the team not looking likely to win this year, I do think they have ask much if not more potential than Mercedes.

Kimi is P3 because of the consistancy he had while the big 3 were suffering wildly erratic results in the first half of the season, had the first halffollowed the pattern of the last he would not be P3 and I doubt he end up P3 by seasons end.

I would not write off Mercedes/Lewis before seeing how the cope in 2013... besides your inferece is that Mercedes next season will go backwards so for Lotus to go ahead is not excatly flattering... Lotus ahead of either McLaren, RBR or Ferrari now that would be an achievement.

But I will agree that Lotus will improve more by having Kimi driving for them than without so him resigning for 2013 is greater newes for Lotus than it is for Kimi (IMO)

I really don't doubt Lewis's speed, but I doubt Lewis is going to be a happy bunny being asked to park his car at the end of the pitlane going into Q3.

I seriously believe that he will be psychologically unsettled by a lot of things, such as not winning or being able to fight for good positions as he has been used to.

How Lewis copes may surprise you or even Mercedes's ability to produce a better car in 2013 <think>

However the up shot is still the same if Lewis/Mercedes fail in 2013 then the credit for any progress of Lotus will be deminished just a little.

No, I did not mean to infer that you did want him to fail... I uderstand that his character to date would lead you to believe he will struggle, for the record I also believe if the car is weak then he will not cope.

All I wa trying to say was the 2013 Merc may be better than the 2012 car and if Lewis is in a rutt at McLaren then simply being in a new enviroment may have a positive effect on him, something we won't know until next year.

RB should have replaced Webber with Kimi

why?.... on the face of it the Vettel/Webber paring is enough to deliver both championships back to back and potentially 3 year running.

Bringing Kimi to the RB team would at best only achieve what they already are achieving and more likely would destablise the team.

Kimi needs a team that is not so corporate away from the track, Lotus is his best option for 2013

I do wonder what is going on with Webber at RBR. While not wishing to imply anything he has been suffering slow starts when he shouldn't and NOT slow starts when you might expect them. And after 3 years he is still regularly suffering KERS problems.

I'm not wanting to imply anything but that is a ridiculous run of bad luck.

Barrichello used to fluff his starts a lot while at Brawn. Sometimes you just get caught in a rut.

I find this to be less than shocking.
