IMO the FIA should have a points system like we do on the roads and the amount of points you receive during the year will result in a ban for serious offenders.

Interesting point, but I also feel that drivers should be punished for each offence AND accrue points. You could imagine a driver thinking that he had scope for causing an accident without being penalised there and then in that case. As if to say he can cause x number of incidents and get away with it before being punished.

It could work and then driver and teams will know what happens with a certain amount of points.

Grojean would be banned all the time <roflmao>

Joking apart this would them make it clear to drivers and teams that once you reach 12 points you are banned.

Points would be given out for the serious nature of the incidents.

These point will go on the racing licence even if they receive a penalty or drive through during the race.

Just a thought.

True, but if you don't like the condition, don't sign the contract!

I believe that on one occasion, Alain Prost somehow managed to keep his trophy, and Ron went into a super sulk. Doesn't Lewis have a single trophy that Ron miraculously allowed him to keep?

Just think, if points for reprimands meant prizes, a couple of years ago Lewis would have had the whole top shelf... lol

I am sure Ron would have put them on HIS top shelf

I find it amazing that Ron Denis who was friends with the GREAT Ayrton Senna who as we always hear was Lewis Hamiltons hero got dumped by Lewis.

I think the way Lewis acted toward Ron was terrible.

Funny how Ron is appearing back in the Mclaren garage now that Lewis is leaving

Ron's been appearing in the garage pretty regularly. He's still trying to get back the trophy he let Lewis keep.
Maybe thats why Lewis is leaving.

I would too, if Ron kept showing up.

Regarding the penalty points system, if we had a defined list of how many points each offence was worth, we could then have a list of punishments associated with these penalty points, thus making the whole penalty system more transparent.

For example: We could have a system whereby pit lane speeding was 1 penalty point, causing a collision was 2 penalty points, ignoring blue flags was 1 penalty point etc. Then we can hand out a 5 place grid penalty after 3 points, a 10 place penalty after 6 points and a race ban after 9 points and so on.

Yes.

Think it would then give the F1 paddock an idea of what will happen if something happens during the race weekend.

Also the fans will also know what will happen to their favorite drivers.

Just sometimes feel the current system can be harsh on some drivers and more leniet to others.

Maybe also if a driver has three clean races in a row he will have a point taken off.

Dear God who needs the FIA? <peek>

Didn't someone get a three place penalty for getting in the way in quali at the last race? I thought the normal penalty was five?

Anyway, a table of offences and the resultant penalty awarded sounds good. Especially for post-race ones seeing as they seem to be randomly picked from a list.

Not sure if this is the rum talking, but.....

How about all stewards are given Colt 45s and if they think a driver has been a real dunny, they get to shoot him in the knee cap?
