Perez to Mclaren; Is he a good choice?

When Perez was initially named as the replacement to Lewis I thought oops here is someone who might be a handful for Button, but in the end I thought it's more likely that Button will retain the upper hand with consitency and Perez the odd flash and that he would learn from Button.

Of the two drivers at Sauber I was always a bigger fan of Kobayashi and it appeared to me that while he had the worse results, he was equally exciting, had been stricken with a little bad luck and generally lost out to Perez's strategy gains for having more tyre options when he didn't qualify in the top ten.

While I actually still rate Perez and don't think he's a bad choice, I actually would have loved to see Kobayashi at Mclaren, especially after sunday's result.

I am now starting to be more convinced that Perez is going to Mclaren because he will ultimately bring funding.

I think the potential element of funding is part of his appointment. However I do feel that his potential driving ability has more to do with it. He is far from the polished article but could go far I feel. I fully expect button to take the upper hand to start.

Cheaper than Lewis and that money can be spent on the car
