All in all a good race from my point of view. Alonso eliminated on the first lap. Kobayashi gets a podium. All is good. Also, Webber is not pleased with "nutcase" Grosjean: http://en.espnf1.com/japan/motorsport/story/91019.html |

Well, thankyou Dimi for seemingly helping to ensure Team Suspicious Bits and the Pointy Fingered One look very likely to succeed in a third consecutive title. Of course, should you wish to knock Vettel off the track next time out, please feel free.... |

I wouldn't necessarily say that it was entirely Kimi's fault with Alonso. IIRC, Alonso wasn't giving him much room, and Kimi ended up on the dirt. I need to see the start again though. All the time you have to leave the space! |

Well I enjoyed seeing Vettel equal Fangio with his 24th career win... Alonos was very unfortunate this time out but it is looking like we will have a new tripple WDC this year... great. |

I imagine considering how fast RBR were that Ferrari might want to up their complaints regarding moveable aero devices

It is amazing how quickly people forget how the season started and blindly assume RB and Vettel are now going to become tripple champions... I have never known in my time of following F1 for a season to be so random and unperdictable. Any driver who makes it to the end as Champion will have overcome some hard times... The fact Alonso and Vettle are at present rising to the top could not have been predicted given the first half of the season, there are any number of drivers who could have been on top. With 5 races still to go it is still not a two horse race (Kimi may yet get his comeback win) |

Thing is, that to me it looked a little more like Kimi was trying to force his way into a gap that wasn't going to be there when he arrived. It's rather similar to Grosjean and Hamilton at Spa, without quite such dramatic consequences. Alonso could have looked in the mirror, and Kimi could have backed off earlier. Probably a 50/50 to be honest, but it's magically helped Team Dodgy Aero's driver right back into the hunt. |

Kimi & Grosjean seem to be having quite a decisive say in the WDC battle. Although, probably not quite the way Renault must have anticipated at the start of the season. |

At least Kimi remembered that when hitting the back of a championship rival, it's best not to take yourself out too.... |

Sky seemed to lay most of the blame Alonso rather than Kimi. Must admit it didn't look much like Kimi's fault to me. He held his line and Alosno simply drove into him. |

So far as I can tell, Alonso wasn't going in reverse. I could be wrong though. Obviously the folks at Sky know better. |

A link showing the start: (until it may be taken off from Youtube) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNAnElrnCig Showing what appears to be Alonso continuing moving across to the left. Kimi was at that time up on the side of Alonso. Kimi moves also to the left to avoid Alonso until Kimi is onto the edge/grass and has no further place to go and then also holding back. Alonso has plenty of space to his right at and before that time. Alonso may have been occupied by the weaving opponent car to his right? But Alonso's exit is not Kimi's fault as far as I see it, though I understand they touched. |

Alonso's spin was definitely not as a result of contact, in that he wasn't sent into a spin, though it has been theorised that Kimi might have touched the back wheel of Alonso, giving him a puncture, and that's what sent him spinning off the track. My verdict: Racing incident and nothing more. |

Kimi and Alonso did definitely touch. You could see a bit of Kimi's front wing come off. In fact, his engineer later told him on the radio that losing the bit isn't affecting his pace. The contact causes the puncture, causing the Ferrari to lose rear end grip and spinning off. I also completely agree that it was a racing incident. So how come the wise men of Sky and some other fanboys are blaming Alonso? A racing incident, as I understand it is nobody's fault, right? Whats more interesting is Kimi's qualifying spin. he went off, controlled it and then spun it coming back on the track, presumably at slower speed than when he went off! He managed to bugger everyone else's lap, including the championship leader's! He then completed the job in the race. In spite of Vettel becoming the unintended beneficiary, its also helped Kimi reduce the gap substantially. I'm feeling a bit controversial today.

regarding kimi's quali lap spin, as i understand it he lost it went off track maanged to keep it together and get on top of it and tried to back onto track only to cross a strip of grass before coming back on track and it was the copntact with the strip of grass and led to the spin. but it all old news and like that ETG is feeling controversial
