Of course not... I am saying (quite correctly as it goes) that in terms of F1 drivers there are no English or Scots or Welsh or Northern Irish drivers only British drivers. Irvine, Coultard, Button all race or raced as British with a Union Flag on the car and a Union Flag on the podium... now it does not mean they are not English or Scots, nor does it mean I think they are not... it simply means that as far as the FIA are concerned they are all British. People from the United Kingdom an Northern Ireland are collectively called British, (even the Northern Irish) Individually of course they are English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish. As for those from Northern Irish being British well both Islands are part of the collection called the British Isles only one of which is called Great Britain (the larger one that is made up of Scotland, Wales & England). QED.

Maybe Schumacher will be back at Ferrari as personal? Or did he burn his bridges by racing for Mercedes? |

I cannot see him in a non driving role with Mercedes or Ferrari... he took a role at Ferrari after he retired first time but this just emphasied how much he was not reay to walk away. I feel he is ready now. |

Podium flag maybe, but try looking at one of DC's Red Bulls, if you can find one he didn't smash to bits. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Union Flag is made up of more bits than a Saltire.....

True but it is the podium that counts... that the 'official' designation as far as FIA are concerned. |

Schumacher answered recently to that very question from a journalist: "No. Why (should I)." |

He didn't just burn that bridge he widened the river it crossed. IMO he made a massive mistake leaving Ferrari to race with Mercedes. At Ferrari they worshiped the ground he walked on and he had a made up corporate job for life that paid millions. He was involved with PR for new Ferrari's, along with the honour of being given cars as freebie's in recognition of all the success he had with them. The last freebie before he left was the Ferrari Italia. Mercedes cannot offer that, he hasn't even won a race, and why would Mercedes offer such deal? He has lost that aura he had in the three years he has wasted with them. He will be a VIP guest like any other well known driver and that's all. He only had to wait a year and Luca would have had a second team for him to play with, I guess there is no pleasing some folk!! |
