Very true, but I suspect that it isn't ever going to be the case with Mc.... |

If someone wants to hire me for that much I think I'd do what they say, however I don't care enough about money . . . . so I work for myself. Infact, although it's not explicit, the move to Mercedes is about money too. So really, his statements about just wanting to win (something he was doing at Mclaren) are contradictory to the future he's just laid out for himself. While he might go on to win, it's a big gamble. |

I predict Lewis will have 3 below par seasons (for him) return to McLaren, have a huge blow up, then go to Red Bull. |

It is a risk for any driver who makes a switch after years in one team but a lot will depend on upcoming rule changes and how the 'new' team reacts and the car it produces... 2013 might have to be a tough one with plenty of setteling in but 2014 could be a corker... wait and see. |

Mercedes have had the Brains of Brawn for 3 years and even their win could be said to be a fluke considering how the year started. If anyone stands to benefit from the rule changes I'd expect it to be RBR with Mclaren either at the back of the grid or right up their with them depending on how clever their not so clever as Newey but still pretty clever, clever people got on with the rule changes. I think it's been said before that engines tend not to make the difference, though I could be wrong, but considering the Brawn 2009 was designed for the Honda, they did a pretty good job of hacking in the Mercedes. I am with Rob, Lewis is just gambling and I expect 3 more years of frustration. |

I expect next year will be pretty average given no huge rule changes, the lack of a killer update on the Merc, and the impending outlawing of their current flavour of double DRS. 2014 has great potential to be really good, or diabolical. Assuming the FIA get their way and these new engines, heftier KERS and other changes come about things might get interesting. If Merc build a cracking engine, that puts them in a strong position, especially supplying several other teams to help with feedback. If Merc get the revised chassis right, that will help too. If one of the other teams gets it dead right, then they're going to be in the same position they are now. If Merc get it wrong with the engine or chassis ,then they're going to go down the order. It would be interesting to see how Lewis would cope with a car that's a pig. Vettel seemed to get very flustered when the RB lost it's highly dubious trick rear end parts this year, and only settled when some more dubious parts could be bolted on to the car. Some pace was lost when they were banned, but he's at least got over the little wobble. I suspect Lewis would go into meltdown if put into a regular midfield position, so Merc might be taking a big gamble on it all going right... |

I haven't followed Lewis his whole career, so I don't know where he stood in the past, but at Mclaren he's always had the chance to fight at the front, however when he's had a problem that has backed him into the pack he's almost always given up. I can imagine he would get demotivated very quickly if he found himself fighting just to make it into the top ten and not fighting for pole, which basically sums up 80% of his F1 career to date. |

by whole career if you mean before F1 then few drivers get followed much... I was aware of drivers like Rosberg, Hulkenburg and Vettel as I followed Formula BMW but I would not say I was following them, Vettel really came across my radar when he joined the BMW Sauber team. I'm sure there is some footage of Hamilton and Kubica racing together in karts. |

The thing with Mercedes is that since it took over Brawn, it was sitting on the fence. It is a corporation not an F1 team. It took over in a bad economic environment and has always been minimal respecting its financial commitment. In contrast Red Bull, McLaren and of course Ferrari have no desire to limit their budgets. So Mercedes taking so long is not a surprise given it is maybe the fourth or fifth team in terms of budget. In signing Hamilton, this signals a significant financial commitment and hopefully the team's other tasks will be equally well funded. Mercedes will probably have the best engine in 2014. Cylindar firing to be timed by Tag Haur. I hope they can achieve more success than so far. To me it all depends on their budget and willingness to stretch the envelope in terms of ethics. |

Yes I did mean his whole career. The thing about F1 is that while it's the pinnacle of motorsport, you only shine if you get in the right car. At least in other formulas your talent will show through. The Mercedes so far has done little for furthering Schumacher's aims and infact if you didn't know who he was you probably wouldn't have thought anything of him. I really think Lewis is someone who will fade quickly if he isn't able to maintain any kind of consistency at the front. |

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...-kiss-pics.html Lewis will never win a Championship again as his off track life is just plain stupid. |

F1 drivers are people with private life's just like everyone... I have no iterest in what he or any other driver gets up too or what is happening in his personal life away from F1. It may have an effect of his driving for sure but most are professional enough to block it out when it comes to race weekend. |
