There have been major demonstrations against the US in both Lybia and Egypt. The reason: A film was shot and produced in the US.

A number of issues are raised by this situation.

While I understand that the film was crude and designed to be offensive, I have no idea how any of the demonstrators can equate that with the United States as an entity.

I suspect that the majority of Egyptians and Lybians are horrified at these recent violent protests. Clearly there is the prospect that radical elements have planned this and once again hidden behind the name of Islam to justify their agendas.

In fact it is likely that radical elements are hijacking every decent movement in the middle east and Africa.

I mentioned to a friend the other day that I am starting to understand that any efforts to be reasonable and factual in an effort to disperse the energy of radicals will fail. We might as well hunker down and get ready for more of the worst. In fact I suspect that the fundamentalists (for wont of a better word) are just getting warmed up.

The radical elements are being funded, and I suspect the US, the UK etc. know who is funding them. That should be the next target and it should be surgical.

Inevitably it comes back to my thesis - organized religion mostly has little to do with spiritualism and more about control and justification.

Islam is the worst in that it does not tolerate any criticism, analysis or debate. Dark Ages stuff. Beyond that there are way too many radicals that resort to violence at even the whiff of criticism.

The insanity that is Pakistan seems to be spreading funded, I suspect, by Saudi and Iranian petro dollars.

Personally I like Anthony Bourdain. Pork is great!

This seems to shed some light on what is going on, however you cannot blame a the USA for this.

Just to pick my spirits up after a couple of gruelling days I decided to watch YouTube and ultimately ended up on Pat Condell and then Bill Mahar. One thing led to another and I ended up on this site: http://www.edialogue.org/en/Default.aspx

Basically it is a site about how to become a Muslim.

You know me. Often ironical.

I just asked a simple question: "Why can't I criticize or question Islam or Mohammed?"

Azziz answered back with nothing but questions "What would you do if someone bastared your father or mother?" And then simply copy pasted quotations from the Quran. Wierd stuff.

Ultimately I guess he figured I was not useful and very quickly stopped answering me. In fact he never answered any question.

The sad thing is I think he thinks he actually has intelligence.

People say I am Islamaphobic. For this I thank you. I tell you this is not going to get better, only worse. These people do not have free thought. They think the Quran is a better source of scientific evidence than empirical evidence.

Yup I read that article too. My point exactly you can't blame all Americans or the US government. Well not can't but shouldn't. But they do.

Obviously these protests are organized by militant groups with financing from the usual sources.

Here is the real issue, other than Islam being purely primitive intrinsically.

If most Muslims do not agree with this vitriolic attitude and the harsh and violent reaction to any teensy criticism or questionning, then why don't they stand up and speak their minds?

The answer is they are afraid. In particular women. And this is the real rub. If they are afraid, then there is no hope for change or moderation within the "religion".

An even scarier prospect is that Muslims actually buy into a lot of the nonsense.

In my brief interchange with the site I referred to in my previous post, I could tell the person was simply wacker. Completely.

Having fun tonight going to Islamic sites. I can only take it in small doses but wow.

Here is the answer for how women can be good and why they must obey men.

Quote:

In the Muslim religion, women are advised to follow rules that at times may appear to clash with western standards of fairness and equality. However, if one looks into the rules and thinks with an uncritical eye, one will come to notice that everything Muslim women are told to do ultimately benefits women.
In the Quran, it states " For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise, for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward. (33:35)"

In the Quran, it states: "Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally],take leave from them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand." (4:34) [1]

In the Quran, it states: "Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish and put forth [righteousness] for yourselves. And fear Allah and know that you will meet Him. And give good tidings to the believers." (2:223) [2]

"The world and all things in it are valuable; but the most valuable thing in the world is a virtuous woman." -Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him.)"

If you are a Muslim female who feels that she has been lacking in her religious duties, it is not too late to turn that around, regardless of your age or what you have done.

If anyone has any doubts about how ridiculous this religion is, just go to their sites and ask questions.

The only thing they do is quote the Quran. There appears to be zero ability to think for themselves.
