These pics were taken from color slides found at the Library of Congress. They are dated between 1939-1943. What I found of particular value is that it reminds me of what a nation of people need to be (poor, hardworking, poorly paid and so forth) before their country can slowly progress. We all owe our predecessors for the lifestyles we enjoy today. The poverty back then makes even rural China look prosperous. Some of the other photos - a great series of snapshots of history.

My parents, were they alive today, would have appreciated these photos.

The pictures are so clear, sharp and the color is so vibrant, they look as though they were taken just yesterday.

I sent this out via email as well. For some reason people like photo 58. Guess because they like sheep.

I do like the comment about the photos "Guess that's before they get fats". In reviewing the photos there are zero obese people. A couple of chubby ones, but no one is fat.
