This is what the editor of the magazine has to say:

"Ferrari and Fernando Alonso clearly did a brilliant job. It's just pity that we don't know whether they won on merit, or it's because some teams had one arm tied behind their back."

Guess Ferrari had the victory just gifted to them <sarcasm>

Well the proof will be in the pudding as the rules have now been confirmed where by the cars will race as they have been since the start...

If Ferrari 'walk it' as they did in Silverstone then we shall know it was on pure pace. <thumbsup>

And where did Massa finish? ...

oh yes. 5th (ish).

It seems to me that all the rules change did was bring the Ferrari pretty much level with Red Bull on race pace. Alonso then had to work for it and he did that very well, aided by a problematic pit stop from Vettel, and Vettel's apparently over-cautious approach to drying conditions which we've seen before in Canada.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike Alonso pretty intensely as a person, but he is a brilliant driver (damn him!) and he definitely won that race on merit.

Ditto on the personality of Alonso but the only credit you can give Alonso for Silverstone (and it is worthy credit) was that he was there to pick up the pieces dropped by Red Bull.

It was Vettel's race but RBR made an error.

However, every win is deserved. Including Buttons win in Canada which a huge proportion of the F1 community think was gifted to him. Strange init.

Eh, Alonso did manage to pull away from Vettel after the pit stop. It's not like Alonso wan't on pace.

Extremely disingenuous IMO. Alonso was on the podium 4 of the previous 6 races, w/ 2 second places where he straight up beat Webber. To my knowledge Ferrari had stayed fairly quiet on the whole issue, they weren't pulling strings. Alonso had a great race. I don't see room to argue.

I would not say Alonso didn't have the speed nor the talent to win the race but he pulled away from Vettel cos Vettel struggled to pass Hamilton. Once past Hamilton he was 2 seconds a lap (yes TWO) faster than Hamilton. This was on parr with Alonso's pace.

No I didn't. It was done in the pits, can't remember which went first.

There is no mention of all the updates Ferrari brought to Silverstone. The wind tunnel problem discovered at the start of the season as heaped a lot of work on Ferrari to not just put it right but trust the data from CFD Wind tunnel and simulator combined.
Ferrari IMO kept a low profile because they were more interested in their own updates. The updates have done what they were designed to do, Ferrari may IMO be at a watershed moment.
I have posted a long time ago about the new simulator, Ferrari do their best when they can test and test their designs. Now in a virtual world of CFD, simulator and wind tunnel they can test 24/7 again.

The data from the track at Silverstone is as important as the win. IMO of course.

IMO If Ferrari are keeping quiet it's because they know something that everybody else doesn't know. Never has there been a team more fond of winning through political chicanery.

Beats McLaren's willing to win through blatant cheating.
