with only a few top seats available there are always going to be only a few considered to be the best of the best... at this level even being best of the rest still means you are world class...

Despite how we might wish to 'interpute' what Horner means the simple truth is RBR (or any other F1 team for that matter) needs to have two top drivers to win... but history has shown that sometimes the most effective pairings is an unequal one. Unless you can totally dominate the field like in 1988.

He's gushing over Vettel....

it's my opinion (which I am entitled too) but what is going on in that team right now is a little sickening with the Vettel "love in".

I would love to see Hamilton there.

And for the sake of the backlash I expect to see after making this comment it is only fair to say that RBR are only doing what many other F1 teams have done, especially at Ferrari and Mclaren in recent times.

No backlash here. We all know where Ferrari's priorities were during the Shumi years.

I would argue that there is a little more honesty with RBR's stance, they are as Rob says following the same approach as Ferrari very sucessfully did, where as McLaren under Ron preached about driver parity yet it was evident that was not the case... "We are racing Alonso" immortal words.

Webber, like Rubens before him, knows the score, signed the contract and took the money...

There is nowhere for Hamilton to go other than McLaren in 2012, All this RBR talk is just a bargining chip to ensure he gets a good extension to his deal at McLaren beyond 2012.

"We are racing Alonso" immortal words.

While I can't deny Ron ever said those words nor wish to defend Ron I am sure there is more context than we'll ever know.

Probably Ron was expecting a world class driver like Alonso to come into the team and naturally win without actually expecting any preferential treatment to put him ahead of his team mate. Or (less likely) he was suggesting that as they had a world class driver in the team he was the perfect yardstick against which to compare your talent. Either way, Ron's words will have been elicited by some intrigue other than Ron's grumpy nature especially considering RON SIGNED HIM.

Maybe he got sick off picking up his rattle every time he threw it out of the car.

There is little or no doubt that the parity within the Mclaren team when the season started was different to how it became mid season... the point here is that no team is above favoritism regardless of how they choose to call it.

RBR/Vettel (like Meclaren/Hamilton) have had a remarkable association going back to the relative drivers junior formulas... this plays out in how deeply rooted they are within the team. It is a fairly new development in F1 but one I expect will more and more become common place.

No doubt it will end with genetic screening of parents to determine the best possible pairings for future talents.

I see a Terminator like determination amongst the corporations to produce the super athelete of the future. Oops hope I didn't give anyone any ideas.

Fortunately we are likely to run out of a viable fuel before humankind self destructs.

Best, I think, to leave these types of musings to me. I have better space cakes.

Bad excuses to hide a clear favouritism of Ron towards Hamilton. There are many signs showing that Lewis received preferential treatment at McLaren.

Some days ago I could read an interview to Alonso:

Q. Fernando, would you mind to drive again having Lewis as teammate?
A. Yes, except at McLaren. No problem in any other team.
