According to the annually published list by Sports Illustrated, Fernando Alonso is the world’s third-highest earning international athlete, on an estimated salary of 45 million dollars (£28m). Grand Slam tennis star Roger Federer remain on the top spot. The Swiss Federer leading the way from Philippines boxing Champion Manny Pacquiano, Alonso is the highest-placed motorsport representative as football’s Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo round out the top five.
