What I meant was that Hamilton thinks he's watching his career disappear. It must be frustrating even before halfway through the year that you've lost another year and will have to wait until next year to mount another challenge.

It has probably added to Hammy's "shit or bust" mentality.

at least with that attitude he might push Vettel into conceding some wins at least, as I am sure he'd (Vettel) prefer to cruise to the title in P2 than risk not score anything.

It's a common (and admittedly rather vulgar) expression here in the UK;
