Even more disappointing for Button is that he started P2

And for various reasons, it was Button the gentle that pitted to change tires 3 times. While Alonso only twice and Vettel surprisingly only once.
Vettel will have to be given due credit for managing to bring it home that way.
SC periods or not...

Button HAD to change tyres he had no choice. It's in the rules. Plus, Vettel apparently got his tyres by accident so if RBR hadn't screwed up then he also would have had to pit again.

You mean because of his own/team's less than optimal tyre strategy for this race?

I don't really think that is true. No one goes into a race wondering if they can make a set of tryes last 60 laps and it was obvious that Vettel came out with the wrong tyres anyway, that's hardly a strategy.

We had problems at Sebastian's first stop, we had radio issues, and didn't get the tyres on that we wanted.
From the lips of Christian Horner.

Please do not get me wrong. I actually would have preferred to see Button win it today. Unforseen circumstances placed Vettel in the unfortunate situation of getting his hard tires on, way too early compared to what they had planned. Despite this, he managed to take them to the finish line all the while maintaing the lead. Guess we all could envision a Button being able to nurturing his tyres to acomplish that for 68 laps, but not a Lewis or Vettel. The rules are in any case (roughly ;o) the same for all.

Don't worry I am not offended, nor really that frustrated other than for the actual winner, who in reality obviously deserves the win as he was the one that crossed the finishing line first.

jenson drove as good a race this weekend as he did two weeks ago. And despite Lewis being the faster racer, Button puts it together more consistently. Button was p10 by the end of lap one two weeks ago and ended up on the podium.

Lewis just made a big mess of his race this weekend, which is a pity for him really.

All in all I enjoyed the race and the chat. Not the one liner wind up from those who cared not to contribute.

I tend to agree. Seb played the cards he was dealt extremely well today. Sympathies for Jenson as well - he could have won this Grand Prix and he and the Macca were clearly the fastest package out there today.

Yes, it's a very narrow track, 5 cars into one corner don't go too well as we found out near the end.

I saw only one genuine overtake, Lewis on Schumacher. It was brilliant.

Thought Schumacher passing Lewis was very clean at the hairpin

I missed that, was that on the first lap? Lewis didn't think so, but I DID miss it.

What I was implying was that it's not really a race of overtaking on track. So once Vettel was ahead, slow tyres or not, he'd have had to suffer the fate of Sutil to have really lost that race.

No one would have bet on a 60 lap stint.

Yes I agree but I do feel Vettel's tyres would have cost him if the race had not been stopped.

Alonso was struggling too but we will never know

Sorry to have missed the chat today. Great race until the red flag spoiled my entertainment. Very disappointed Jenson didn't win -it was such a good chance for him today and he didn't put a foot wrong. It's very worrying that Vettel is quite so far ahead in the WDC this early in the season -time for the FIA to find something illegal on the RB?!

I think they know it's there, they just can't prove it

apparently NOT, but the race is over nontheless.

Looks like Lewis might get another drive through

What is it with Lewis? He is so far up his own a*se he's incapable of learning.

He's bloody lucky that I'm not on the panel recommending his punishment....... I'd ram his head physically where it always seems to be emotionally.

He is young enough and flexible enough - that maneuver might be possible.

ah ... I'm just grumpy that he cost Williams some desperately needed points. I wouldn't really ram his head up his arse.

Actually I'd ram his head up Martin Whitmarsh's arse.

Whitmarsh always defends Lewis even when he ought to be chastising him. Look at how Horner disciplined Webber last year, instead Whitmarsh indulges Lewis's infantile behaviour.

I think it would make for a nice reciprocal arrangement to have Lewis's head up Martin's arse.
