The Super Softs are a big question coming into the weekend. I my be off my rocker, but I don't recall Monaco being super hard on tires, so they might make a few laps. I'm going for 6. |

I think the first stint will be very hard on this new supersoft tyre as the cars are fully loaded with petrol. Could be as low as 7-8 laps only, especially if the drivers are racing each other. Think I saw some official statement some place that this supersoft was designed to last approx. 10 laps. Whatever the purpose is of such silly fragile non-durable tyre, don't ask me... Someone like Button could make a scoop this weekend in Monaco. With Lewis and others potentially strugling while Jenson even with a mediocre quali could start on the soft, make them outlast the other frontrunners that starts on supersoft. And then go on to take the lead for the win. Depending on traffic, safety car periods, rain... There could be two pit stops or five. Lets see who dares to start on this red tyre. |

13:34 Vettel completed 23 laps on the super soft tyre on his final run. Webber completed 19 tours, Rosberg 20 and Schumacher 13. http://live.autosport.com/commentary.php/id/351 |

I was just making the point that they have different driving styles and make very different usage of the tyres. Lewis prefers to burn his in the pursuit while Button takes a more objective approach and attempts to over come the deficit through strategy. I'd say that at present the two appoaches are balancing out taking into consideration that Lewis's balls as a driver is giving him the edge. Seems that it works well both ways. |

Are we allowed to use the world "balls" in your context in this forum? If not, you are subject to the ultimate punishment - the testicular slap. We have secured the appropriate equipment from the Tower of London to administer the rites. Rob as the Administrator will be implementing the penalty should he have the balls to do so. No one commented on my post on race day thread - Lewis' tyres were completely gone, and yet there he was pushing and keeping pace. The middle of his tyres were shreds. I couldn't believe he was still on track let alone getting the pace he was. I am starting to think his skills in getting the most out of tyres is not equalled. So Jenson is smooth and saves tyres. Lewis doesn't save tyres but is still faster. |

Good point Pasta. I think Lewis particularly spectacular in Barcelona. Yes I did see his tyres. They looked like he'd driven over a cheese grater. And I was also surprised that at one point in the race when Jenson was on relatively newer tyres Vettel and Lewis (on hards) were still faster. I put that down to the fact that they were so far ahead they were not worth chasing at that point in the race and Jense just decided to hold station for P3. I'll book myself into the tower for a testicular slap. Is there a minibar? |

It might be an optical illusion. Its very likely that the tyres we saw as being utterly shredded only appeared that way because Lewis, like all other drivers, had gone around collecting rubber after the race ended

Not a chance. I have never seen anything like that before. For sure that was not a case of picking up marbles. You could see the depression in the middle of the tyres. |

Firstly umm, NO!!!! Second you are right, Lewis is harder on his tired, and faster. Jenson is a WDC, but in not reality would I rate them equal. As I said before Jenson going to McLaren guaranteed him not winning another title. |

only on one tyre, front left if I recall correctly. Was a bit strange. Ok well if we're not allowed to use that word I will be a good boy and play ba..... er I mean agree to restrain my mode of expression to something far more polite and becoming for a testosterone filled activity. As for the difference between Lewis and Jenson, we'll just have to (as usual) disagree about their relative abilities. Jenson was compared to MS by Brawn and well beat a former world champion when they were team mates. For me yes he's not the best in F1 right now but he's proven his worth. He can overtake as well if not better than anyone when he pushes himself. Just tends to be a bit conservative at times. |

That's a fair assessment, and I did sooooo enjoy the ass kicking Jenson put on JV. He's probably on the down slope of his career while Lewis is still on the way up. In 20 years though Lewis will be remembered as the better driver.

In the same way that Prost is remembered as a better driver than Senna? EDIT: Doh! I managed to completely misread your post, even while quoting it. I thought you suggested that Jenson would be remembered as the better driver. Apologies. I agree with what you actually said. Lewis is a terrific driver, exciting to watch and clearly (to my eye) better than Jenson. Unfortunately he is also a complete twat. |
