http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/259930/...il-end-of-2016/ His last contract? I know he's a bit of a prat, but Alonso is also a hell of a driver. Yes I'm quite pleased with this. |

Will he stay that long if they cannot give him a championship-winning car? Sorry Rob..........

Ferrari had a title winning car last year, they just didn't run it for the first half of the season.

Good question, I never forget growing up with Ferrari as a mid field team with unreliable cars, 21 years is long time to wait. Like Rob I was no fan of Alonso before he came to Ferrari but he does seem to have settled down and he, as far as i know, has not publicly turned on the team when things don't go his way. I imagine if Renault had cost him a WDC in the final race with the wrong strategy he would have gone nuclear on them. Maybe they are right for each other and the Championship cars may soon make an appearance. Either way, whether he was at Ferrari or not, my thoughts about Alonso have changed. |

I've always liked Alonso, one of my favourite drivers. He has grown up a bit - and also his talent for self-preservation is showing up well; he's smart enough to know that he doesn't really have anywhere else to turn should he piss Ferrari off. Red Bull are happy with Vettel and are unlikely to pay the kind of wages he desires, we know about his time at Macca. There are no other seats likely to be consistently competitive. Mercedes possibly. But really, his best move is to stay with Ferrari and not to piss them off. And so he has and tries hard not to. |

Interestingly put Gordon. I think the key here is that really he has no where to go after Ferrari so he may as well (try to) give them his soul in exchange for a title ( or two). I think he has already twisted the knife recently with some (under performance not good enough etc) comments. But I always say nothing gets done if no one complains. |

Ferrari is the dream team for virtually every F1 driver ex-Lewis/Jenson perhaps. The only way to leave Ferrari to go to another team is if you are fired and are designated a less than top class driver. Unless, of course, you retire for three years but Alonso is too young for that I think. I think he is perfect for Ferrari. He is a great driver, hard worker, and builds the cars. I don't know why Ferrari have been on the back foot so much relative to RB and Mclaren, but I am confident they would be even further behind were it not for Alonso. Still don't like him personally but that is probably not fair. |

Probably. Up until this season Renault really did crap all w/o him. |

So without that magic second Alonso gives Ferrari, they would be 2 full seconds behind the front-running cars? |
