The McLaren Mercedes F1 Team has signed John Iley as its new head of aerodynamics.
Iley had the same position at Ferrari but left the Maranello outfit during the 2009 season. He was replaced by Marco de Luca at Ferrari.

that's one way to steal secrets, or did Ferrari make him take a vow of silence or wipe his mind clean before he left?

If he's been gone since the 2009 season, he may not know to much.

Hehe, yeah considering how crappy it was, Ferrari may even have 'encouraged' this poor guy to take some of the 2009-car's blueprints with him out the door. <whistle>

People moving teams almost always have a few "trade secrets," even on paper, that they've managed to sneak out with them. It's what McLaren tried to have Renault hauled over the coals for.

Renault and Mclaren's weren't any better. It was most to do with rules intepretation and I admit that last year Red Bull was probably the better one of them all.

He could be a plant sent by Ferrari to design a bad Mclaren...

No, come to think of it, this is a sport and such things do not happen. <think>

Of course, you can use the argument that they stuff they designed was already in their head. Didn't work some years back, IIRC. Wasn't it an Arrows designed by their new signing that was so simialr to his previous car for the last team that it was banned as being a copy? Or was it vice versa? Difficult to see how it's avoidable though. Everyone knows a Newey car, for example. Especially the driver, who barely fits.... lol

I find that a tad personal. <nono>

I agree that I am some what vocal about the various spying issues but that is because various parties seem to advocate a McLaren "evil empire" stance to their posts and completely forget that McLaren were also the victims in other cases.

I think that was when arrows and Shadow split in the 80s. I don't recall the details.

<roflmao> we are all vocal about the various spying scandals... but the Renault/McLaren one is a particular pet peeve with you... if anyone was going to comment on that it would be your good self... hence the Cue W76

that is not getting personal, no abuse was made or intended.
