It seems Ferrari still have the best parties. Amazing company.

The short cut idea is interesting, and would make team strategy incredibly complex and interesting.

With Philip Morris paying for it I'm not surprised... isn't it a combined Ferrari/Ducatti event...

My cousin managed to watch the Singapore GP from the Ferrari corporate hospitality at the GP itself.

Lucky git.

Is bernie crazy? Why is he such a fan of these complicated and contrived ideas?

"Imagine a shortcut which a driver can use five times every race. It would stop people getting stuck behind others"

I'm sure many drivers would love them but as all drivers can use them the slow drivers take it in turns to use the shortcuts..

Exactly, every plan has a flaw. Why would a driver on a long strategy, say Trulli (and his train), want to give up a position to someone behind them and give away the advantage. Track position (i.e. being in front) helps a lot with strategy, especially when you are doing less stops. In fact you are relying on keeping the 2 stoppers behind you by the time you take your pitstop.

If short-cuts are now allowed, does that mean that senna gets the 1989 title back?

no fuel stops this year...

But say a fast but hard driving (on his tyres) driver uses the shortcuts to pass a train... then the slower (but easier on his tyres) driver then uses the shortcuts to regain track position because the first guy had to do an extra pit stop... <think>

No because he still wouldn't have had enough points because he retired from the Austrailian GP.

You're right but what stops the slower driver using the short cut on the following lap to regain the place?

Good call...

I'm so glad you didn't say Hamilton gets back the 2008 Belgian GP win <peek>

I assume under normal conditions the faster driver will pull out a gap big enough to stay ahead ...

That is a point. ;) . Difference is that that wouldn't have affected the ultimate title result.
