What about Vettel, Webber, Kubica, Massa, and Nakajima?

Can't stand any of them. They're all equally detestable, especially Webber.

I wonder how many drivers could win a championship if they had the right car.

It might be easier to say who can't.... Irvine, Rubens, Coultard, Montoya....

I se your theme here, but did Montoya ever have a team mate that won a title in the same car as him? i.e. was he ever actually in car capable of winning the title?

We'll never know because Montoya had a propensity to keep crashing into his team mate!

I think the being the top non Ferrari in 2002 was very telling the Williams could have won the title if Ferrari hadn't been so dominant... (he says stating the bleeding obvious <doh>)

What I mean is the 2002 Williams in a different season say 2000 would have been a real contender

Ok, but to be fair to the lardy prima-donna he was never seated in a car that could have won the title in the same season that he was actually seated in it .....

I think JPM had a title or two in him, he was just unlucky to be around at a time when both Schumi and Ferrari were so dominant.

The same could be said about Kimi... as in a WDC before he went to Ferrari...

I know I'm going to stir up some stuff here, but that was part of the argument I used against people who used to claim Shumi wasn't a great driver. With out Shumi Damon Hill could have been a 3 times WDC, as well as Mikka (moving them from the good driver category into the great). DC would have a title, and Rubens 2, and Kimi would have won in 03 if there was no Shumi.

My point being that Shumi wasn't just great for his numbers, but the fact that we now look back and can say X driver could have won Y titles, if not for Shumi.

Like, the 2009 Toyota could have been a contender in the 1962 season, just maybe? <peek>

I was careful when I used the phrase "when both Schumi and Ferrari were so dominant".

Much as I recognise that Schumi was the class of his generation it is only right to acknowledge that had he been in, say a McLaren, rather than a Ferrari he'd have less titles than he does.

And yes, I acknowledge that he played his part in making Ferrari what they were but still I think what I am saying is fair.

I'm not saying it was all Shumi, look who was calling the shots. F1 is a team sport and Shumi had a GREAT team behind him.
