The first of how many?

Won't Bernie be needing a slot for Saab soon?

So far it's only a rumour. Campos is still looking for sponsors and perhaps partnership according to the Spanish media.

Good... It would be nice to at least let the team get a season under their belt.

Just why do posters love posting negative news about the new teams.Nearly all of the (news) items are rumour from scurrilous websites.
USF1 being a classic case. They are not in England, therefore will not make it.

Look at these reports.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80790

"The US F1 team has announced that John Anderson has joined the American squad as its new team manager.

Anderson has spent the last 30 years working in several motorsports categories in the US, including jobs with Gerry Forsythe, Barry Green, Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt Jr."

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80776

The US F1 team will run its car for the first time at the Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama next month.

The Charlotte-based squad has confirmed its car will have an American debut before it travels to Europe to begin testing ahead of its maiden Formula 1 season.

"Because we are a new team and start everything from zero the first time we will run the car will be in the United States at the Barber Motorsport Park in Alabama, the circuit that was nominated by the FIA for us," sporting director Peter Windsor told the official Formula 1 website.

And here.Video's of their car undergoing crash tests, and passing them.

Just because they are not your beloved Prodrive, and following a different path, they are rubbish

OOOH look Red Bull can't make the first test.
"Red Bull Racing is to skip the first of the official pre-season Formula 1 tests next month, AUTOSPORT can reveal.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit is set to become the only established outfit that will not have its new car ready for the first test that takes place in Valencia from February 1-3.

That must mean they are doubtful for the season.Total BS

It is an extension of the general vouge in reporting any news these days it seems... Bad news, scare stories... doom and gloom... make it dramatic.

The new teams have undertaken a huge task by entering F1... some are basically starting from scratch... they are easy prey for negative headlines... form what I can see teams like USF1 tend to ignore the deadline to concentrate on getting ready for the first race...

That story that Red Bull will skip the first official test session of the new season... does anyone really believe Red Bull are struggling and risk not making the first race... No of course not... but in the off season the motorsport hacks need to justify their job/salary and they seem to think they can post a negative story and then post another article were the team in question refutes the first article... it is self feeding

How wrong can you be.

"Now, though, the New Year is upon us. US F1 Team will be racing in 2010 and so it is now precisely the time to share with you our life on the global stage. So let me take you on a quick tour. In the drawing office, which is one large room filled with CAD stations looking directly onto the race bays, we have American designers and engineers and also engineers from some of the major F1 teams – Brawn, Renault and Red Bull to name but three. In our creative department (TV, animation and layouts) we have editors and designers from SPEED, Weta Digital (Peter Jackson’s company for all of you movie fans out there) and other Hollywood studios. In our machine shop we have a floor-full of 3- and 5-axis routers and CNC machinery from Haas Automation and C.R. Onsrud. Our chief fabricator worked for Ken at Onyx F1 and for me at GTO. In the composite shop, we have technicians from aerospace and motorsports (including F1). The sub-assembly area, overlooking the prototype build room, is headed by a man who worked for Ken in American open-wheel racing.

And that’s not all….

Unlike many of the other F1 teams, we have not been burdened from the start by having to build a wind tunnel, or a large CFD department, or a shock absorber department complete with its own testing rigs, or a space- and dollar-consuming seven-post shaker rig or even a lot of free space for trucks and motorhomes. We decided to base our F1 team in Charlotte because it is the epicenter of racing in the United States. This coupled with the fact that most of the technology currently in F1 is a product of the American aerospace industry makes Charlotte the perfect choice. Around the corner we have Crawford Composites, where they produce excellent work under the ever-detailed management of Mr. and Mrs. Max Crawford. Gunther Steiner, the very talented and under-rated former Technical Director of the Jaguar F1 and the Red Bull NASCAR teams, has a similar, five-star composite facility a few miles up the I-77.

They (USF1) make a compelling argument for their Charlotte base... but won't they also need a base in Europe...?
