I see his response as a sign of weakness.

... and he 2010 mate is, remind me again... <roflmao>

It would be pointless to slag Irvine off (tempting as it must be) and it is not in the nature of racing drivers to say nothing (very rare at least), so by making light of the comment it deflates its confrontational nature while exercising the driver's need to respond.

Point is the one in the wrong is Irvine for starting it not Jenson fro not slagging Irvine back.

Hell, Irvine and his gob are notorious. I just feel that no response would have been better than what Jenson said.

Dignity would have been "I haven't heard what Eddie has said. I would rather just focus on the season ahead". I see his response as a sign of weakness.

As I say; subjective.

Dignity is relative, I think it would have been funny as hell and plenty dignified for Button to state how Eddie could only dream on being a WDC and beaten by a new teammate.

Like "Sorry Eddie. What was that you said? I was too busy polishing my WDC trophy!"
