Actually Matt, Rosberg didn't say Schumacher took F1 to a 'new low'... that is you and your over active imagination again What Rosberg is actually quoted to have said is "That was the first time I remember it being a dangerous issue." So he admits his knowledge of F1 is limited by his age... FYI... Piquet Jr too F1 to a 'new' low

so are you condoning Schumachers' actions John? the fact he cheated and the fact he put his fellow drivers life in danger? very interesting |

I dunno....are you condoning Hamilton's actions in deliberately lying to the officials or piquet's for deliberately crashing... or maybe Senna for taking out Prost premeditatedly, etc... etc or is it just the GERMAN you always seem to single out... very interesting

Some of what you like to call cheating were racing incidents anything else is no worse than other drivers (Champions even) have done before and indeed since he retired...
no more that every other driver who drives aggressively... and indeed less so than those who did it before the sport got safer...

I don't really think it is a nationalistic issue, after all, Rosberg is German too. Also, I think lying to stewards pales in comparison to putting someone on the grass at 200MPH. When ever did a couple of half-truths ever kill anyone. Though I 100% agree that Schumacher gets more than his fair share of stick compared to Senna when Senna was equally notorious. Had Senna not died in a racing car I suspect that much of the criticism would be more balanced. |

I think that it is a sad day when the improvements in safety are used as an excuse to condone what is still dangerous driving. Yes, F1 is safer than it has ever been by you only have to look at Massa's crash at the Hungoring or Henry Surtees at Brands (OK, F2, but still relavent) to see that fatalities are still very much possible. Open wheel cars are not at the level where they can be driven like touring cars. |

Oh Really.... Pray tell... just how often, in any given GP, in any circuit do F1 cars ever get to be side by side at 200mph... let alone long enough to have contact and send one driver on to the grass... Just because a car is capable of 200mph+ top speed does not mean they travel at this speed all the time, yet how often do we hear this claim

Er, at Spa against Hakkinen? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1WuWu8kGak At Silverstone against Alonso? (According to Alonso anyway). OK, it can be explained away as agressive defending but I still think these incidents were a bit too close to the bone, i.e. the term "cheated" doesn't really apply but unsafe does. |

I'm sure that in circles other than motorsport, lying has lead to plenty of deaths. As for putting someone on the grass at 200mph, how about telling your opponent that they're got going to get around the first corner in the lead, followed by starting the race, nailing your foot flat to the floor, not lifting for the first corner and smashing straight into the back of said person? |

Let it be know that I 100% deplore the standards of Senna's driving over the years and I make no appology for saying that. The only incident where he could possibly be exonerated was Suzuka 89 as I suspect that Prost allowed the accident to happen knowing that Senna's reputation would automatically render him guilty in the eyes of the motorsport establishment. |

In all fairness John did say "how often". You have found just one example.I didn't see Schumacher put Hakkinen on the grass in that video. |

But wouldn't you agree that Schumacher's chop on Hakkinen, although not on to the grass, was still unnecessarily dangerous. |

Chop..... Chop.... You imply a violent move to block... I do hope you have another piece of video evidence of this chop because the footage you link to shows no such move* only a driver leading defending his position.... it's called racing you should watch it some time great fun... *=except maybe in the mind of the usual suspects
