MS hasn't raced in three years. His reflexes will not be as sharp, he will battle to cope with the physical demands placed on his body over the course of a full race, not to mention a full season. Cars have changed radically since 2006 and he will have no more opportunity to practice than anybody else.

Unless Rosberg is very firmly told that he is Michael's #2 I think we will see the Legend beaten by his team mate. Not by much, but there is no denying that age takes its toll.

All very good points.
It will be close but I think that the old boy might just prevail.
I am a great admirer of Rosberg, and if he can maintain his qualifying performance in the race then he will give Schumacher a good fight.

I thought I would never say this, but I am not really bothered who prevails.
In answer to the question though, I doubt MS would have signed a 3 year contract to get his arse kicked for the next few seasons, he may have a couple of races to adjust until he puts his team mate in his place.

This is the man who would do just one or two laps get pole and pack up for the day whilst everyone else is racing round using every lap they can to catch him up. Even if age has affected him, he will have gone from unbelievable to exceptional maybe.

I have a feeling we wil be seeing Shumi be doing a shit ton of testing, we'll know more by then, but Shumi is a legend, he got that way for a reason. I think he gets the better of Rossberg.

At the expense of Rosberg and the Merc Test driver (who is...?)

Interesting results so far

I wouldn't be surprised if Rosberg gets the upper hand initially. He will be fired up to prove he can beat Schumacher in the same equipment, plus the added factor of being Germany's 'forgotten driver' due to Vettel's impact, and that could be enough motivation to give him the edge. But Schumacher's experience will shine through as the season goes on, and when the season gets tougher I expect Schumacher to lead Rosberg. It will be one hell of an interesting battle

I agree, Schumi may be a little ring-rusty but I think Nico flatters to deceive and I expect Schumi to have the beating of him fairly comfortably.

I would expect Rosberg to be damned fast but so will be MS with the added factor of consistency. MS may not have the most wins this season but I strongly suspect that he will amass the most points by consistently finishing toward the top of the pile.

I think Michael might get the best of Rosberg as well. By the way, who is Rossberg driving for?

Sorry...

I doubt that it is going to be close. MS is so confident and ready to battle. As Brawn says he trusts Michael, and Michael said he is ready. In the interviews Michael is just jumping out of his skin to compete. He wants to prove he is the best ever, and that is what he will probably do. We know what he is capable of doing, and if you look at him, there is no doubt he fully expects to get the WDC title. He has been on the pit walls for three years and is well aware of Nico's capabilities. It is not like Michael to have false bravado.

Michael will beat Nico, and if the car is good he will be challenging for the WDC. Forget third place.

I'm still not completely convinced by Rosberg. He had a very good middle part of the season and it of course can't be ignored that he finished seventh in the world championship in a car that his teammate failed to score in. But he has always been inconsistent. For that reason, notwithstanding Schumi's advancing years and his time out of the cockpit, I would expect Michael to have the edge.

I voted Rosberg, but I couldn't care less who beats who as long as Alonso win the WDC. <thumbsup>

Alonso's presence at Renault didn't bring them any results. Why should Ferrari fare any better?

Maybe because if Kimi can luck into a WDC at Ferrari then Alonso has every chance of a WDC or even more (assuming he dose not go to sleep every other race) <thumbsup>

If I recall rightly, Alonso's presence helped net Renault two world titles.

Not bad for a team which even then was running on around half the budget of the big boys.

Ferrari are one of the big boys, if not the biggest. There is every reason to believe that if they can pull their corporate socks up a bit (for they are slumped near mid-calf at the moment) then Alonso could help Ferrari achieve good things.
