I have no idea of the reliabilty of this source. But it sounds promising.

"Ken Anderson, US F1 Team President, CEO and Team Principal, said: "USF1 Team is pleased to announce ACG as a technical partner in the design and construction of our 2010 Formula One car. The team faces a tremendous challenge to design and produce the first American-based Formula One car in more than 40 years, and ACG's composites expertise will be critical for us to meet our goals and expectations in 2010 and beyond."

Indeed !

Lets hope they already have most pieces ready by now, though this also could be sign of self-reevaluation/realised short comings... <think>

I feel bad about USF1 team. This kind of partnership should have been signed 3 months ago. I hope they will perform descently next year.

There have been a few rumours that USF1 is not on track, but I think that's largely because they haven't been forthcoming with any public announcements recently, so doubts have to be "raised" to "explain" the lack of news. Meanwhile you have Campos who have announced a driver (and have experienced chassis builders Dallara working in the background, so no real worries there), and the very public willy-waving of Fernandes and Branson keeping Lotus and Virgin in the news.

In short, I fully expect a full grid of 26 cars in Melbourne. It's difficult to predict which of the new teams will perform the best, however.

I'm tipping Lotus to be the best. First they have Mike Gascoigne. They are obviously serious if they can attract frontrunning names like Trulli and Kovy. Manor looked promising at first but with Branson you have to wonder, his boast about competing with the smallest budget and no wind tunnel does not bode well... he seems to equate low-budget with innovation. As a rule of thumb the opposite is true: on balance he who has the biggest budget will hire the bestest boffins.
