There is a model show (www.automodellismo.org) each year held at Donington specifically for modellers of all things Automotive... it is usually a great day, but got this news today...

Donington Park is currently in administration therefore we can not agree any FOC deals at this time, also due to this the Donington Collection has also been closed for the foreseeable future. We are currently awaiting news if there will be a buyer for Donington Park, if this happens then I will be happy to discuss your event with them and hopefully we can proceed on the same deal as before. However at the moment I will have to put your event on hold, please accept my apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Not good news.

It is an absolute disgrace ....

We have the worlds largest collection of racing cars at Donnington & yet no one can see them ...

Donnington was a fine track & it is now butchered ....

True, I can find a site suggesting that it's £7. The whole Donington website comes up as unavailable, so I guess the creditors have pulled the plug on it....

Good to know the collect is safe, but the museum was not part of the redevelopment of the circuit as I understand it, so should be able to remain open to visitors (even if run by the administrators) :(

Depends. If the museum has been shut, it would seem to suggest that the museum itself is part of Donington as a whole, rather than part of the Wheatcroft estate. Therefore the cars may become homeless in the worst case scenario. How about a transfer to Beaulieu?

That won't happen. In the event that they cannot sell the lease, everything reverts back to the freeholder.
ie The Wheatcroft family

DVLL do not own any part of Donington. They simply rent it.

If youn rent a factory and go bust, the adminstrators cannot sell the factory.
Lease

2. the property leased.
3. the period of time for which a lease is made: a five-year lease.
–verb (used with object)
4. to grant the temporary possession or use of (lands, tenements, etc.) to another, usually for compensation at a fixed rate; let: She plans to lease her apartment to a friend.
5. to take or hold by lease: He leased the

Its a shame your event got cancelled John. It would have been a good chance for someone to try and get some photos of the state of the track.

Or the fact that Beaulieu happens to house the NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM?

But does it... it is simply called that because it was a private collection owned the the Montagu family that grew so large (and popular) it eventually became a charitable trust but it is no more the nations collection than the British Heritage collection at Gaydon, which could also lay claim to being the rightful place to relocate the Donington collection (should it need to be that is)

But as Sportsman confirmed the collection is safe just the administrators have decided to close it until the future of Donington as a whole is secured.
