I would doubt it, as FOM still hold the rights.

While USF1 was founded on the basis of bringing American drivers into the series, it is now believed they are willing to cast the net farther afield for available talent.

Translation: they can't find an American driver good enough, and/or one who would be willing to risk driving for a team that could just be also-rans.

Maybe Hurley intends to buy the right to use them on YouTube?

it's a short list on candidates for sure

Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti aren't good enough imo, Ryan Hunter-Reay could have done well and he isn't tied to a big contract in the states

Kyle Busch would have been an interesting pick and he's probably the most talented young American driver right now but he's got a good setup in NASCAR and almost as big as celebrity as Dale Jr, in F1 he'd be a nobody and I think he likes the attention he gets right now

Like i've said before, 10 years ago this team would have been a great idea, Tony Stewart fresh off his IRL and USAC Triple crown destruction and Jeff Gordon back in an open wheel car would have been amazing

But currently young American talent is hard to find

they could put special Ed and AJ the IV in the cars I suppose.....

Is it just me who thinks USF1 sounds more like a A1 Gp team.

I just can not see this team doing anything special in F1

Hi Jim, as an Americaan F1 fan I hope they do well over the next few years and work themselves into a respectable position. The name USF1 is is a little corny like Force India, I agree. Do you have a prob with FI as well?

Could you expand on your comment that you see them doing nothing special in F1 and explain your thinking? By nothing special, do you mean like Honda, Toyota, BMW or Jaguar? Or did you have independent non-manufacturer teams in mind?

Oddly I have much more of a problem with FI than USF1.

I've been to India; I cried myself to sleep the first night at the in-balance between the rich and the poor there.

I can't help but think if Vijay wants to spend tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars a year to give something back to India there are better ways to do it.

Going back to USF1 - I think it's a name that might capture some interest in the 'states which would be a good thing for F1 - 'specially if there was a race there too.

But that could apply to all in F1... how much is Berni worth (even post divorce), Schumacher retired worth £500million... and Kimi is reportedly one of Finland's richest men... even w.o.s. Irvine is now worth £100million, the list is endless..

I would say VJ has many charities to which he contributes...

Fair enough I guess. For me it's about wrapping it up in the Indian flag though.

If he'd just called his team after himself or after his company then I wouldn't find it so hypocritical.

When you come from a country with 1 Billion countrymen and you are attempting the first team ever from that country, it make sense to play the national card...
