Common sense would suggest that they will commute the sentence to a big fine and a suspended ban, but presenting that in a way which makes it look like it was not a response to desperate pleas from Spanish race promoters will be tricky.

They should have lied about it afterwards, as we know that's only worth a suspended ban. ;)

I really hope they get to race... it seems disproportionate to me.

The FIA has made its point, now let Renault race.

As much as the ban does seem harsh, it has come at a critical time when one of the drivers had a near fatal accident the previous day and a young man lost his life the week before. It is understandable that the FIA stewards reacted in this way. I believe that some sort of punishment is due just to emphasize the safety issue but to ban the team from valencia would be too much.

No pics of Flavio, even if they get the ban overturned, this is a family friendly site. <admin>

Yeah, it's sorted now. As dangerous as the situation was, the decision in Hungary was made amongst high emotion and really was too harsh.

Exactly. Knee-jerk reactions are rarely for the better.

Great result... too bad Alonso won't get to race his old sparing partner again...
