One thing I've been pondering all along.... Schumacher isn't the sort of person to complete if he doesn't stand a good chance of winning. FIA probably wanted something to deflect attention away from Massa in case he got worse rather than better. Ticket sales for Valencia were rubbish. F1 would do anything to drum up more sales and more interest. Badoer is slow and uninteresting, but dependable and far more likely to be race fit. Anyone else think that the plan was always to run Badoer, and the powers that be bunged Ferrari and MS some wonga just to see if MS might possibly be up to the job, and in the meantime coincidentally create a media and ticket frenzy? I bet there's an awful lot of people on the Valencia ticke hotline booking cancellations!! |

Well, all I can say is that I'm drafting an apology to Willi Weber right now .... although at least normal service is resumed regarding Niki Lauda. |

Let's see if we can think like John and truly understand what he's saying here just in case anyone missed it. John truly believes that you would have got no pleasure from said scenario, not that he believe MS would actually have been beaten by STR and FI. Phew, a few more of those and maybe I can write without fear of having my words wrapped round my throat and gently pulled. |

Agreed. I was worried for him (and the other drivers). You can't just come out of retirement after 2 years and blow everybody else into the weeds. The last time MS drove an F1 car there were grooved tyres, traction control, plenty of aero grip... he'd have been fighting the Facre Indias for the wooden spoon, not because he's 'lost it' but because everybody else on the grid has been racing under the new regulations for half a season and he hasn't. [conspiracy] how many of you think that Luca Badoer is actually Fernando Alonso?[/conspiracy] |

Only if it’s inaccurate. I am just using Schumi facts, like all his cheating

Nah, some people just get upset when Lewis get slagged off no matter what he does (Like legitimately win a WDC yet still gets his talent questioned on here). |

Personally, I think it is sad that he has to pull out. Though lets not forget that a returning Schumacher is not of the same standard as he was in his heyday. It would be like saying that the victory Lennox Lewis had over Mike Tyson was of the same caliber as Buster Douglas's. Frankly put, as much as Schumi's talents may still be there, he is knocking on and, after a 2 year break, it is unlikely that he will be at his best. |

As opposed to other people not being allowed to have the same reaction when the same old tired crap gets peddled out about Schumacher. After all, when McLaren and Hamilton cheated, it can't be called cheating, and is was unfair for them to be caught, and even more unfair for them to be punished. Only Ferrari and Schumacher may be caught and/or punished, because they deserve it. No-one else does, because they aren't Ferrari.

Slightly old ground but OK..... Most people on here acknowledge MS's talents and greatness yet also have an objection to his disiplinary record. It is possible to feel like that. I think the general consensus was "Great but flawed". In the same vain, many Lewis fans accept that there has been a certain amount of controversy in his career (much not of his own doing) but he has proved his worth as a driver, yet some people will still not accept Lewis's talents. That is the major difference, Schumi gets criticised for his (proven) sins on the track but is still accepted as a great champion but Lewis gets criticised for his teams actions off track and gets called a hopeless no talent, despite proving otherwise. |
