Well, I don't know if he is the right choice. He has been out of it for a while. Everyone says he is fit but there is a difference between being fit and race-fit. Still, should give Kimi something to think about <roflmao>

True, but the same could be said about Ferrari's test drivers. Gene hasn't raced in F1 since he subbed for Ralf at Williams in 2004, and Badoer's absence has lasted since he drove for Minardi back in 1999. If Ferrari had wanted a "race-fit" driver, the only options really would have been Bourdais or Piquet (assuming he is out at Renault).

...or Piquet (assuming he is out at Renault).

I think that is a fairly safe assumption to make! <roflmao>

The title speaks volumes:

"He's back..."

not

"The return"

i can see this being a fitting replacement for the time being.

someone who will be the team player, rather than wanting to make the name for himself or take the seat longterm, no 'will massa lose his seat to driver X headlines' and it will make Kimi either up his game or retire.

I think Kimi will beat Schumacher fairly comfortably. It's been 2 and a half years, and Raikkonen is, despite being overshadowed by Massa, still a very good driver. Unless Ferrari revert to type and ensure Schumacher can't be beaten by a team-mate again, but somehow I don't think that will be the case again.

Stat for those who care, once they line up together, Kimi and Shumi will be the most successful duo on F1 history. 8 titles 108 wins. Not a bad lineup.

lose-lose situation for kimi

if he steps up his act and easily beats schumi people will say where was his motivation before

and if schumi beats him it will make him look even worse

mrs strad will not be happy either way

Well, yes, but's fairly easy to have impressive stats on a pairing when your teammate has the equivalent of winning every race for almost five years straight!

To put it in perspective, compare MS to the combined might of Senna and Prost:

WDCs: S/P 7, MS 7
Wins: S/P 92, MS 91
Podiums: S/P 186, MS 154
Points (gross): S/P 1412.5, MS 1369

Of course, to be fair, Senna and Prost spent a lot of time taking results from one another, and until Alonso and Renault came along, no-one could hold a candle to MS and Ferrari.

It's pretty much the same for MS. If he were to beat Kimi, people will say Ferrari have decided who is going to finish first. If he doesn't, people will says he's old and past it. This whole venture has an air of doom around it for someone, however it's not entirely obvious who that will be yet. I suspect the third practice session on the Saturday of Valencia will give us the best clue. I'd put money on MS doing the most laps of anyone on Friday too.

To be fair, it isn't in ferrari's interest to use team orders in this situation and real F1 fans know that. Like i said, not sure how he will do because he has had a neck injury this year but it is the best option for Massa because it does indicate that Schumi is merely keeping his seat warm for him as Schumi isn't interested in a permanent come back.

That is exactly it. Massa's talking about racing again this year and Kimi's looking forward to having MS as a team mate, as he almost did in 2007

Interesting that Kimi refers to it as 'the second car', though I suspect MS will disagree, citing the number 3 on his car as opposed to Kimi's 4? <think>

Naah, I guess Kimi meant the 'other' car, not necessarily second as inferior.

I thought that too.

English is not Kimi's first language and we should probably avoid trying read too much into the nuances.
