I'm stunned. As I said earlier in the week when the idea was brought up by Niki Lauda, I believe that he'll be near the sharp end of the grid. |

er no because of the testing restictions ... He drove the F2008 simulating 2009 downforce levels with slicks last year but not his years car I expect he will be doing a few hours in the simulator .... |

I think this will be very interesting! Much as I think it would have been a great opportunity for a rookie, I personally would much rather watch how Schumi gets on especially now the Ferrari isn't the best car. |

No, he won't. In season testing ban means no-one can drive this year's cars anywhere, nor probably any cars whatsoever. The last time MS drove an F1 was the F2008 in April last year. There's no provision in the current rules for exceptions to the testing ban for replacement drivers to get car experience (hence Algersuari only doing 'straight line' testing. The first time MS will have drive the current Ferrari will be the out lap on first Friday practice. |

I bet it will be one of the best attended practice sessions in recent memory. |

Interesting betting..... William Hill offering evens on MS beating Kimi. 16/1 on winning the race, or getting pole. Kimi's a mere 8/11 to beat him!! http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/EN/searc...eria=schumacher Bear in mind, before Aus, William Hill offered negative odds on Button winning the WDC after Brawn's first test..... |

I've seen it suggested that he may be able to drive last year's car up until the point he registers as a competitor for this year. Any truth to this? |

I doubt it. They'd probably want to time the laps to see how he's doing, and that would constitute a test session. F1 teams aren't allowed to have their cars timed up the hill at Goodwood for the same reasons (ffs!). In fact, this year I believe they weren't allowed to do it at all! |

Will really depend on where McLaren and Ferrari really are relative to one another. Which is very unclear. TBH, I'd expect Lewis to come off better. |

http://formula-1.updatesport.com/news/arti...unway/view.html I am sure Ferrari like Renault will find ways around it. |

This is what confuses me. There is a testing ban, and the FIA regs clearly state that F1 cars can only be run on/at FIA approved tracks/facilities. In any case, Schumacher doesn't need straightline testing. He knows how well an F1 car stops and goes, so the forces involved won't be a surprise. What he needs is proper laps to retune his muscles accordingly. |

Wish I'd known. That test was only one stop down the motorway from where I am now! |
