Just one thing. Who is/are listed as Ferrari's replacement driver(s)? Isn't it Badoer and Gene? In which case, all the speculation is irrelevant as Schumacher would be ineligable to race, unless there was some sort of case where dispensation could be given. Like the fact that TV revenue would probably go through the roof.... |

There's no "listing" of reserve drivers in F1, the rules say that a team can use a maximum of four drivers in a season but they don't have to be specified before the season starts. Ferrari could use anyone with a superlicence. |

In the unlikely event Schumi does stand in for Massa, we'd get a glimpse of the Hamilton vs Schumacher battle we were denied by Schumi's retirement. Of course it won't be absolutely the ultimate battle, as Lewis has a rubbish car this season, and Schumi hasn't been in F1 since 2006 (has it really been that long?) |

Could you imagine the result IF he did drive, and he beat Kimi? In some ways I'd love to see MS back for a few races, but these are certainly not the circumstances anyone would have wanted to see it happen. Anyway, he's got nothing left to prove, everything to lose if it's a flop, and really even if he's said he'd consider it, I'm sure he probably wouldn't be all that bothered anyway. |

if Schumi does return then I assume TPL will be sending Mr Lauda a sorry letter with lots of signatures on it |

It'll be pp'd "Jim" I really don't see it happening. 40 years old, out of the saddle for two years and not all that interested. Even if he has stayed in training every day since he retired, it's still not the same as racing the car week in, week out. It would be great from a sentimental point of view, but it would be daft on practical terms. Still, with the ban on in-season testing, just how race-fit will any reserve drivers be? Who would be quicker, Badoer who is about a zillion years old and not that fast anyway, Gene who is younger but not all that fast, of MS, who is pretty old, but was always ultra-fit, ultra-fast and seven times WDC. None of them will have raced the car much, if at all since the testing ban, although I would guess that Badoer and Gene would be racing in other forms to keep their fitness and skill levels up a bit. Who knows? I'd be very surprised, but MS would be more likely than FA. Personally, I reckon they'll go for Gene. |

This is true. "Rubbish" is relative anyway! |

Mea Culpa. I was sure MS would not return, but I think there is a great chance now. Why would his publicist issue a statement that if Ferrari asks, then he would consider. He is protecting his reputation a bit, making this look like a favor (sorry favour) to Ferrari so given the inevitability that he will not for a few races beat Kimi, he is covered. I bet they have already been talking behind closed doors on this. Ferrari would loooove MS to be back behind the wheel. Probably scrambling for a bit more advertising money. All the TV would be on Michael. And Bernie is probably all over this. Ticket sales would rocket. He probably has to give a bit more to Ferrari. Through a Bermuda bank account of course. Or a Panamanian account - all the rage these days (just for those of you who go offshore financially - a bit of accounting humour). I sure hope it is so. |

Surely MS could push Massa's hospital bed around the track quicker than DC could drive his car! I'm sure that DC is still contracted in some shape or form to Red Bull, after all, his kises their arses repeatedly every time he's on air. |

MS is nowhere near fit enough for F1. And he suffered a neck injury in February in a motorcycle accident http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/77396 |
