One thing I was disappointed with was that Kovalainen wasn't much of a match for Hamilton again. Again, he was well placed in qualifying and seemed to have the matching, if not the beating, of Hamilton in the practice sessions. But again, come race day, not good enough. I don't get what it could be, Kovalainen is said to be extremely fit so that is not a problem. I suspect McLaren are getting more and more frustrated with this too. I hope for Heikki's sake he can sort this issue out.

All I can think is that Kovi just hasn't developed his racecraft yet. It's not just being able to go fast but also be consistent, lap after lap and look after the car while still keeping a reasonable pace.

Well, he's been in F1 as long as Lewis.

I'm all for giving F1 drivers time, but Kova did have plenty of test driver time before driving for Renault and if anything, the same criticism is being leveled at him that he received at Renault.

I've been very critical of Rosberg before this season, suggesting his reputation was somewhat undeserved, but it's undeniable he has been impressive this season. As the Williams car has improved, so has he - and he is miles ahead of Nakajima, which couldn't be said about last season.

Yes, he did better but he still didn't get the maximum he could have yesterday. His strategy put him ahead of Webber after the first pitstop and he was caught napping when Webber overtook him.

I think a Podium was a strong possibility yesterday if he had kept Webber behind him at that point.

Still nice to Williams running strongly.

True, but Lewis is an exceptional talent.

Caught napping or Webber put the hammer down?

for me Kova was found our in Monza last year .....he did absolutely nothing in that race to challenge Vettel

Wheras Hamilton from around 15th on the grid had a real go ..

Yes I noticed that. BUT. Webber had a prolonged pitstop and Rosberg had a lighter car for a few more laps.

Judging by the distance Webber went on to create between him Rosberg behind I suspect there was little he could have done.

Hamilton ended up finishing around 8th, compared with Massa's 6th and Raikkonen's 9th, in the poor (in wet conditions) Ferrari. Hardly 'having a real go'.

With Massa who started 6th on the grid………

Hamilton started 15th!

Only a small technicality but I’m sure it might have a little bearing on the final result!

<sarcasm>

<no> <no>

so Massa can't have been bothered at all compared to Hamilton

I was comparing Hamilton and Kovalainen, not Massa and Hamilton. I simply used the Ferraris to put Hamilton's supposedly great performance into perspective.

but how when Hamilton clearly drove a better race then them?

Massa started 6th and 6th, kimi started 14th and finished 9th

Hamilton started 15th and finished 8th

He was in a different league to both Ferrari drivers
