Great stuff from Alonso, if he is indeed on pole. I imagine he's light but Renault have been looking handy. Jenson will be hoping that Fernando can hold up the Red Bulls tomorrow.

Button 8th - they delayed bringing him out so they could check his suspension - I wonder how much that'll damage his chances tomorrow

Nice pole from Alonso, who just manages to pip his team mate to pole <sarcasm> in what someone described at the last race as a 'sub-standard' car.

Alonso looked hooked up all through qualifying. I wonder if he's running light.

And wtf happened to the WDC leader. His worse qualifying to date. :(

As I said before, he'll be relying on Alonso holding up the Red Bulls to salvage a good result - he'll probably be heavier than either Vettel or Webber so a slow first stint for those two could play Jenson into slight contention. But it'll most likely be damage limitation for Button.

No word on Massa yet, here's hoping he's okay.

Autosport says he's "stable" but there is no word on the extent of any injury.

Joe Saward says:

Quote:

Felipe Massa had a heavy accident in qualifying in Budapest but it seems that he is fundamentally all right, despite the fact that his helmet hit the steering wheel. It is not thought that he is in danger, but will not be taking any further part in the weekend’s activities. Massa has now been taken to hospital in Budapest.

The FIA says that he is in a stable condition. We will update you as more information emerges.

Massa got a nice hematoma over his left eye. But he is well.

Barrichello, a fellow Brazilian, went to the medical center to check on Massa's condition and said the Ferrari driver appeared to be doing fine.

"He was very agitated," Barrichello told Brazil's Globo TV. "He had a cut in his head, which could have been from the part of my car that was on the track. He was talking, was conscious, but they have to analyze the cut."

There it is in the red circle. The heave spring is one of three on the rear suspension. It is the one that keeps the car from squatting under heavy aero load.
