Going to McLaren would be a HUGE mistake for Nicco at this point in his career, or any point as long as Lewis is there. Lewis is the better of the two, and the team will back him. BWM would be a better option long term. |

Perhaps Lewis is going to replace Kimi?

It would have to be the VERY long term considering where they are right now.

He'd still have a better chance at a title than he would against Lewis. |

you reckon that Mercedes would allow huge bias against a German driver?

My feeling is that Rosberg will go to BMW. I don't see how he would be a better bet for McLaren than Kovalainen, who in fairness hasn't fared too badly this year considering the performance of the car. |

I guess McLaren are finally losing patience with Kovalainen's tendency to perform once every five races. Sad thing is, when he's on his form he's at least as good as Hamilton, if not better. He just badly needs more consistency. |

No. I'm saying there is a significant difference between the abilities of Lewis and Nicco. |

Honestly? One could have said the same thing about Barichello and Schumacher .... ok granted that was probably one in 10 races but even so. Whether it is because he is not getting a fair crack of the whip or because he just ain't good enough I don't know but his performances are not good enough and I'd seek replace him based on current form. In truth he was always a stop-gap. A cheap replacement for Alonso, one who would bring some harmony back to the, wouldn't rock the boat and allow the team to concentrate on Lewis. He's done that job well enough and he was a good choice at the time but now McLaren need somebody better. |

Kovalainen often beats Hamilton in qualifying and fastest lap classification, and occasionally strings together an excellent race too. Several times this year he has been the better McLaren driver - it's definitely not the same as Barrichello and Schumacher. The problem is that Heikki when well placed rarely converts potential into results. A good example of this was Monaco this year. He outperformed Hamilton throughout the weekend and was on for a (in the context of this season) rare points finish, but lost concentration at a critical moment and binned it. I would say if he is to go that would be the reason. Rosberg has also shown improved consistency this year so in theory would be a good replacement, it's just a matter of whether he would actually have the raw pace to compete with Hamilton. |

Incidentally, on the issue of the Rosberg to BMW rumours, who would he replace? Most people would probably say Heidfeld, but it seems extremely harsh to think that Nick could be shown the door presumably on the basis of the first half of 2008 where Kubica was the better driver. On all other occasions Heidfeld has been marginally better as the points totals testify to. I'd have to say at present Williams is a great place for him to be. Decent car plus Nakajima as team-mate equals rapidly rising reputation, rightly or wrongly. |

Hmmmm, stay working at the small if prestigious family business or go to work for a corporation. Well I know what most people would choose. |

Kubica refused to extend his contract beyond this season in anticipation of a better drive opening up elsewhere. I would imagine he would be on his way from BMW regardless of who is coming in. |
