Apparently, Bernie has agreed seven years on the current contract, giving Donington a staggering 17 year deal starting in 2010. Not only that, apparently the cost of mods to the track for the F1 has dropped from £100M to £80M....

I think the reduction in cost might be something to do with the recent construction downturn and a distinct lack of work for most large contractors (I should know, we've had to cut our OH&P margin recently just to get anything built).

Same here in the states, but not just overhead and profit, we have seen a decline in real craft wages due to competition amongst the unemployed. They are willing to work in a lower craft classification.
