it's an interesting question actually how many formula 1 fans have been to a GP? i'm not a formula 1 fan, I used to be back in the 90's and I went to 2 GP's, 98 and 99 the cost of going isn't really that high when you consider how much racing you get in the day and it is only a one off every year i think when I went grandstand seats were around £80 each |

I've been to Silverstone twice a while ago - had grandstand seats on the start/finish straight the last time which were great. Last time I looked you couldn't buy a ticket just for race day, you had to pay through the nose for a 3 day pass....fine if you can afford it and can stay near the circuit but we live close enough to not justify that and travelling into and out of the circuit can be a nightmare so don't fancy doing that for 3 days on the trot :-s |

we stayed in a hotel just a bit down the A43 near the circuit but we had to book ages in advance both times the things that stay with me about Silvestone in 98 was the mud everywhere, the crap Ferrari experience thing and air horns that cost £8 richard dunwoody was amongst the non-drivers in the Porsche supercup race and it rained and rained and rained and rained and hill spun off in 99 we all got sunburnt, the Ferrari experience was still crap but the red arrows simulater was ok and throwing jelly beans at the people in the terraces below |

The last time we went was when it rained so much loads of cars were stuck in the mud & the traffic jams were awfel!! My Dad dropped us off on the main road and it took us an hour to walk in. It was worth it to see DC win the race tho and we were sitting opposite the podium so it was great

I've been to two - British GP (I think it was 2000) and the Australian GP 2008 We only had General Admission tickets for the Sunday at Silverstone, but we got decent enough space on the grass on the outside of Club (I think) And at Albert Park, we had three day Grandstand passes. Obviously, I enjoyed this one a lot more! Not only because of the seats, but I liked the atmosphere better. They put on more of a show - apart from all the other support races, there were a lot more air displays and there was even a small funfair inside the grounds! And of course, the fantastic weather was a bonus But at both races, the overwhelming memory was the camaraderie between rival fans. There was plenty of banter, and even commiserations when your driver wasn't doing so well |

That's good news then - didn't want to go for 3 days. The mini Ford's want to go so it's something to look into next year

....At Donington. ![]() I am 99% certain, Donington or no Donington, that there will be no GP at Silverstone next year. |

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the last British GP for several years

I've been a couple of times to the Bike GP's but on the whole I am of the opinion that motorsport is best watched on TV. When I was there I found it very hard to appreciate the actual racing even if the atmosphere was enjoyable and the sensation of speed greater. I don't think I'd ever buy a ticket to a circuit again unless it was for a track day. |
