I really felt for Rubeo today after struggling to get past Heikki (and doing so brilliantly) he was then re-passed effortlessly after Heikki pressed the KERS button. Here's the rub, Rubeo was faster and was clearly being held up, KERS gave the slower McLaren a boost, which instead of making the racing more thrilling, lead to Rubeo getting frustrated and having to try desparate passing manoevres. Is KERS really a fair system to have? |

of course it is. the poor start wasn't heikki's fault. rubens should never have fallen back that far. it hasn't really caused issue up til now. besides which, every team is allowed to run it. |

I know where you're coming from, Lex. Fair might not be the right word, but it was a bit anti-climactic after Rubens put in all that work and made the pass only to have Heikki whizz back past, as you say, leaving the awesome Brawn machine stuck behind that dog of a MacLaren! The best battles were between the non-KERS cars. I'm not a fan of it at all. |

Do you think? I thought that today, as it has been all season long, the best action came in tussles between a KERS and a non-KERS car. It was tough on Rubens but I really enjoyed his battles with the McLarens. Anyway once all the cars have KERS it'll even out the effect so that the only difference will be an extra button that the drivers have to press. And yes it is fair. It is clear that KERS has a negative affect on the handling of the cars so the teams have choice; fast down the straights or fast round the bends. Some teams chose not to implement KERS but that was their choice too. What's not fair? I didn't think I would like KERS but at the moment I'm loving it. |

When it's KERS versus non-KERS, I just don't find it as 'pure' as 2 non-KERS slugging it out. But that's not my main reason for disliking it; I think there have been too many incidences of a faster non-KERs car getting stuck behind a KERS car possibly making the race less exciting. I'm thinking Vettel getting stuck behind a Ferrari and therefore not even getting the chance to challenge Jenson up front. And it would have been fun to watch Rubens work his way up through the pack yesterday, but he was definitely stymied by the MacLarens, so were we denied more of his hilarious passes? |

Sorry mate but it was nothing to do with Kers. RB had a gearbox problem and the car would not go into 7th gear which ment RB could not stay with the Mclaren when he normally would have passed. Just look at Buttons lap times and this proves that if RB had not have had this problem he would have past Kov with easy. This is why RB retired in the end The Mclaren needs more than Kers to have any chance just now. I hardly saw a Kers car make any great moves with the system. For me it is not advantage at all and if i were the teams using it i would drop Kers. Look how the BMW has improved without it |

Yes it is fair. Mclaren probably poured millions into building KERS, they then carry the weight disadvantage. This is the pay-off. Having said that I agree with the argument that this is not the time for teams to spend a fortune on 'new' technologies such as KERS. In fact as we all know KERS isn't even new anymore, it has been around long before f1 got hold of it. |

Valid points. I agree it isn't as "pure" but on the other hand I do think there has been more overtaking this season. Anyway the teams have all agreed to drop KERS from next season so that'll be an end to it. |

KERS is not fair on anybody. Those with it are compromised in terms of weight distribution and can only use it for a very limited time, those without it suffer the irritation of being passed by somebody whose only skill is in pressing a button on his steering wheel. What bugs me most about KERS in F1, being the proud owner of a Honda Civic IMA, is that the entire point of energy recovery is to help you to save fuel. There is absolutely no difference in fuel consumption if you are racing, if anything a KERS car might use more fuel than a non-KERS car which has used most of its fuel. I think they proved on Top Gear that a Pruis flat out got the same or worse MPG as an M3 when racing around a circuit with the M3 following the Prius. Another hare-brained, ill-thought-out rule that'll go the way of grooved tyres and other such contrivances. |

Teams without Kers really shouldnt complain, they have the option of using it but dont. Kers cars are just about the only ones which have a look at overtaking, i think we have ever less overtaking this year than ever. |

I'm also not sure that fair is the word, because as others have pointed out every team is allowed to have KERS and there are advantages and disadvantages to running it, but I do agree with Lex here and I'm not a fan of KERS as it is |
