Speaking of teams, the latest is that March want a look in. I have a sneaking suspicion that at least a few of these new teams are less than serious about their participation in F1. It looks more and more that Max is working behind the scenes to get his friends and associates to put in entries just to bolster his case that the budget cap is attracting huge interest. I wouldn't put it past him to do so. |

The budget cap was always going to attract new teams... if the cap went to 20million think how many would apply... the point is it becomes less F1 There are many wacky ways to get new teams into F1 but that does not make them right... I mean why not have a relegation/promotion system where the top 2 teams in the lower category moves up and the bottom 2 teams in F1 drops down... I see no merit is such a scheme but would bring in new teams (apart from maybe McLaren would have been dropped for last season)

The FIA are right, there is no such thing as a 'conditional entry'. Either you are in or out. If they merely accepted the conditional entry as valid they would be caving in to everything FOTA wanted. I want the existing teams to stay, but in truth most of them are expendable. Of the 10 teams on the grid only Mclaren, Ferrari and Williams have any real heritage. The rest are replacable. Renault for example has no continuity. They won titles but they have been around for less than 10 years in their current incarnation. They seem to come and go from the sport as they please. The rest of the field are all Johnny-come-lately. |

true but I have to wonder about Bernie on this... how many countries / tracks will want to pay the huge fees he charges for hosting an F1 race with budgeted cars and small, unknown teams? If FOTA split off, I can see Ferrari, who's required to run through 2012, field a joke of a car there and run a real technological dream in a new series -- just to make a point. |

Max talks tough -
Quite unlike sneaking in the new regulations during a WSMC meeting called to discuss 'Liegate' & setting the entry deadline to May 29 from the usual time of Oct - Nov, isn't it, Max?

Except for the teams which used to be Minardi, Benetton, Sauber, Jaguar, BAR... I think that leaves Toyota. |

Well there is some continuity of personnel but officially those teams no longer exist. The whole team has been re-named and re-branded. The name has gone. |
