I was just thinking how much less of a force Max seems these days. Maybe it is because he is getting older and thinner. Maybe it is because so much of his esteem and enigmatic charisma was virtually eliminated by virtue of his sex scandal. Always a bully our Max, and I must admit I hate bullies, and am to a large degree enjoying this newfound ability of the team owners to stand up to him, and enforce some sense of logic. Having said that, and as much as I dislike the pervert, I wonder how well the teams will get on after him. As for F1, I think it will do just fine after Max and Bernie. Maybe under the likes of Todt we might know what is happening from year to year. |

Interesting. I see Max getting pretty well everything he wanted with only a one year delay for the teams to ramp down...... I think he opened with a controvertial position knowing that he had room to negotiate and still achieve his true aims and I don't think Max expected to win as much as he has..... |

That's what I think as well. Max has always been a tough negotiator, remember how the engine freeze proposals started and were diluted through negotiation. But we still ended up with a freeze, which is what Max and the FIA wanted. In response to Pasta, I think if anything Max has emerged from his sex scandal stronger than before. That's why he has been able to impose his draconian will on the sport, even if FOTA are now a collective negotiating bloc they still have yet to secure any significant "victories" over Mosley. We will see how this latest situation pans out, but I think Max's vision will be fulfilled, even if it takes longer than initially planned. As for Todt, I have read recently that a lot of team bosses are wary of him taking over the FIA presidency, as they see him as a sort of "Max Jr." I believe Mosley has indicated that JT would be his preferred successor, which would be enough for the teams to shy away from him entirely. Not that it's their decision, of course. |
