Is it really, Williams have been suspended from the Formula One Teams Association because they want to race? |

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/75646 A bit unfair, as discussed they were legally obliged to sign up regardless of what FOTA said. Although Autosport has made a bit cock-up there, I didn't think the Formula One Constructors' Association had made a return!

To be accurate, Williams have been suspended because they are skint cheapskates who want to sign up to a £40M cal because they aren't worth the sponsorship fees and would prefer to be dictated to by Mad Max and be limited to (probably) more than they can afford in order that the competition who can afford more are crippled, enabling them to do better than their usual trick of sending Rosberg out on fumes to catch headlines....

Well that’s one way of putting it I think that Formula 1 needs to remember that it is a RACING series |

Despite the legal obligation, I don't think FOTA gets their eagerness to sign before the deadline. They were supposed to have another meeting inLondon today where they would have taken a collective decision. So why the hurry? |

So, if Williams are the only team in F1 in 2010, will they eventually win a race? |

Well, yeah, but racing costs money and putting a ridiculously low budget cap in place, while at the same time forcing the teams to spend money on blind alley projects (think long life engines and KERS), makes it seem that the loonies have taken over the asylum. I agree that costs must be controlled but when the proposed budget cap is less than half what Force India spent last year, it does make you think that Max is taking the piss. The budget cap ought to be the same as what the smallest team spend this year, that way there is a level playing field without too much restriction. Lets also not forget that F1 teams need to build their own cars, unlike most other series. On the subject of Williams, I'm not surprised, they have broken ranks. The only way the teams can fight the FIA's irrational ideas is through unity and, in their actions, they have weakened FOTA's position, just like Ferrari did when they signed the Concord agreement in 2004 (which didn't get ratified anyway!). The way F1 is run at the moment is, at best, like a dictatorship. The participants should have some say in the rules instead of being dictated to by the money men (FOM) and a man who doesn't have a clue what is good for the sport (Max - remember the wacky driver rotation idea )

I'm not for a breakaway series, I just want F1 to stop being run by morons who care more about politics and finance than the racing. |

Well, the only way that's going to happen is if there's a breakaway series. The fans will follow the teams, regardless of what the series is called. |

What Formula 1 needs is a Tony George type figure to come in and clear out the rubbish |
