Eddie Jordan said earlier in the season that he believes Button wouldn't be quite so quick if he had a rookie teammate in the car. By challenging him at least part of the time, Barrichello pushes Button to better things. Maybe Ross agrees and will want to keep Barrichello, or at least put an established driver in his place. |

Alonso. There's no point in him hanging around at Renault. Their 2005 and 2006 were mainly due to their special relationship with Michelin. I doubt there will be many more, definitely not next year. Massa is part of the Ferrari family, with a contract into 2010. Kimi also has a contract and is pleasing his employers. Brawn have such a massive lead this year that they can afford to devote a lot more time to developing next year's car and you can be sure that they will be at the sharp end of the grid again with loads of sponsorship money, not to mention prize money for all the points they've been getting. If not Brawn then Red Bull but Alonso must move again if he wants to win again. Rubens is doing well, but he's getting on and seems not to be enjoying being beaten by his team mate (again). I doubt he has a contract for 2010 and Ross Brawn's unlikely to turn Alonso down if he came a-courting. It will make an interesting 2010 to see Alonso and Button in Brawns, wouldn't it?!? |

I doubt Brawn would sign Alonso for one year only, and he is contracted to Ferrari for 2011. |

You do remenber that Honda are sponsoring them this year to equivilant of Honda's total demobilisation costs. Somewhere in the region of $150 million. |

Is that a fact, or just rumour? |

Fact. It was reported at the time of the sale. If you take the time to trawl through all the press reports at the time of the sale, it was reported and confirmed by Nick Fry. The expansion of Brawn's Virgin sponsorship deal never materialised, but CEO Nick Fry insists the health of the team in 2009 is not in doubt. "There is no issue whatsoever with funding through this year," the Briton is quoted as saying by ITV. "Even if we didn't get another penny in sponsorship we'd be able to do what we need to do," added Fry http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news...526141045.shtml |

Well, neither Alonso nor Ferrari have confirmed it, so in that sense it's still a rumour, but some very reliable sources have come out and claimed it's true. Furthermore, most of the "insider" F1 pundits I have come across have been discussing it as fact for some time. It's a "worst kept secret" in line with when Ferrari signed Kimi. |

I wonder how much ferrari would have to pay Alonso, if they decided to pull out of the sport for 2010, thus denying him his contractual right to drive for them in 2011

I thought Barrichello did a solid job as Ferrari number 2. But he never replicated his form at Honda. For the past 3 years Jenson outshone him and continues to do so. Looking at race results I believe the tally this year is 6-0 in Button's favour. Barrichello has been past his best for some time and was only kept on this year because no other proven driver was available. For next year Brawn will have various options. I'm going to say Rosberg. |

f*** Alonso! How much would they have to pay Kimi? Doesn't he have a contract for 2010 already? |

If Brawn get some big money advertising they may consider a bigger contract for a younger driver, but correct me if i am wrong, RB is racing for very little money and in my book that's a lot of value for money. |

Jenson took a pay cut this year, but I doubt that potential WDC would sign up for a multi year deal unless there was secure backing in place. |

Both he and Massa have contracts for 2010, so I don't know where this b*ll*cks about Alonso to Ferrari comes from, unless Kimi has agreed to retire in 2011, in which case Massa and Alonso are going to have to be friends...

it has been rumoured for some time that Kimi might walk away from Ferrari at the end of this year. If he goes back into another one of his downers, then I can't see a reason why they wouldn't just let him go if he wanted, there's no point in having a driver that doesn't want to be there, or can't be arsed to drive, as Ralf found out... I'm still 50/50 on the idea that Alonso might go to Ferrari in place of Kimi next year. |
