Well, quite! <roflmao>

Also the fact that it's only £1 a pint to start with, means that any further reductions are somewhat unlikely....:P

In Cambridge, a pub is selling beer at 99p a pint. There is uproar with some people, as they reckon it promotes binge drinking.

and so it continues.....

A number of schools in North Yorkshire will remain closed for a second day after the heaviest snowfall in 18 years hit parts of the UK.

Schools in West Yorkshire have a further day of closures after a second night of heavy snow in places.

In Bradford, the city council said all of the district's 197 schools would be closed for the day. Dozens of others across the county remain shut.

That’s even more ridiculous because there is no snow at all on the roads

I suspect in the higher grounds of West Yorkshire near the Pennines it’s still bad but here in Wakefield I can see across the moor towards Leeds and it’s fine

The M62 was fine this morning and I don’t know of anyone that’s not turned up to work

I know for a fact that all the buses are running because one of our jobs today is too put some TM up at the main depot in Wakefield whilst the inner ring road gets rerouted, Radio Leeds had no public transport cancellations to report this morning

So teachers have absolutely no excuse, what a total disgrace. I’m sorry but it is, if I didn’t turn up to work I’d need to have a bloody good reason and I wouldn’t be getting paid either

complete embarrassment to the country

what a joke!

<roflmao>

We called all our lads back this morning because some of our tools had seized up and we had to get them checked

But like troopers, they are back out there

And once I’ve finished the dull paperwork, I’ll be back out there

I've been to a few Wetherspoon's recently that are selling IPA for 99p a pint.

The "cheap booze promotes binge drinking" argument is an old one with no supporting evidence whatsoever. Look at Scandinavian countries - some of the most expensive alcohol in the world, yet they have the highest rates of alcoholism and alcohol-related crime in Europe.

It's unfair to blame the teachers because it is the local education authorities, rather than the individual schools or the teachers themselves, who are deciding to close the schools. Nonetheless we should wonder why it is that the LEAs see fit to shut down all the schools at the slightest hint of snowfall, when everybody else has to grin and bear it....

*rushes off to work, feeling mega guilty for being a lazy cow*

*realises none of the 1,200 pupils are in school today, so there's no-one for me to look after <doh> *

*rushes home again to have another snowball fight with the mini-Fords*

The reason is that we have 1,200 pupils at our school - if even one of the little darlings were to slip and break a bone, either on the way to school or in the school grounds, the LEA would get their arses sued by their dear parents and these lovely 'come and see us if you've fallen over so we can shaft some poor git' law firms.

Education has little enough money as it is without giving it to people who want to sue schools at the drop of a hat for the smallest accident. As a Matron at a school, I have to write it down if I so much as put a plaster on a tiny cut, just in case the parents get upset about it!!!

It's the sue-for-anything culture that's shut all the schools - health and flipping safety gone mad!!

People are just way too soft,

Yes, working conditions aren’t easy but are we really that pathetic we can’t get a few schools open, this is people who spend the entire day indoors, they are not out there

They’ll be giving them f**king hammocks next, I’m not kidding, it’s a total disgrace, wages should be docked and given to people who make the effort to work when the weather turns a little bit nasty

No wonder this country is off down the crap hole

Right - let me try and explain this simple matter to you shall I <doh>

I'm only going to say this once then I'm going back to ignoring you.

None of the teacher's in Hertfordshire decided to take a day off today- the decision was made by the Local Education Authority - we were told by our Headteacher that the school's were shut and that was an end to it!

They can't dock our pay when they told us not to go to work can they?? I would have gladly gone in today - infact I am logged into our school's network and working as I'm trying to explain this simple matter to you!!

Probably no real point tho as you've obviously made your mind up as usual <doh>

The bottom line is that schools are shut, that’s the bottom line…

Everyone else can make it in too work apart from those that come under a LEA because they told them not to go

. Is this what I pay my taxes for? Will I get a rebate?? Yeah right! It stinks. What a load of complete bullsh*t.

I’m sorry, this is no offence to teachers but the whole system is a complete shambles. I’m paying for these people to sit on their arse, what if I don’t pay, will the government accept that. No, I don’t think so…

Hope they enjoy my money, once again the working man has to pay so the elite can do sweet F.A

I’m going out now into the freezing cold to check on my lads and do some column testing

It’s work so I wouldn’t expect you all to understand
