Good point he makes:
It's still too early for Ferrari to put all their eggs in one basket. Kimi came back from 17 points behind with 2 races to go last year. If he wins at Spa, with Massa second and Hamilton 3rd, then Massa will be 5 points ahead of him and Hamilton 9 points with 5 races to go... one DNF or lapse of concentration in any of those races and everything changes (as we saw last year). |

DNFs can work both ways though. Another DNF from kimi could effectively put him out of the WDC. |

Kimi is included in that analysis and he definitely has the most to lose from another DNF. |

I think Lewis is probably under the most pressure right now. He's got less of a lead than last year and the Ferraris have looked pretty good (Massa ... thanks in part to Smedders?) in recent races ... save for their reliability probs. Lewis won in Oz when the Ferraris both had engine probs. He won by a mile in Germany, but his other wins have only come when it has rained. He can't expect every race left to be wet, so I think he must have doubts about the rest of the season and be praying for Ferrari to have more engine probs. He also lost his nerve last season in the final run in ... hope he is better prepared this year and doesn't let the pressure get to him again. Think Massa is in the best position. His recent form has been good and there's no sign as yet of Kimi turning on the go fast switch. |

Spa is likely to be soggy and the length of the circuit should allow Kimi time to get his tyres working over one lap. I think Lewis will struggle with tyres again and might hold back in order to avoid punctures, so it's looking like a red 1-2 with Lewis 3rd. |

As long as the Ferrari drivers keep taking points off each other, LH doesnt have much to worry about. At Spa, Kimi wins, LH second. The real pressure is not so much on LH, but Ferrari. As John pointed out, the Ferrari team is not the finely balanced machine it was of yesteryear. With speculation on Kimis future and the end of the season drawing ever closer, coupled with a matured LH minus a self-imploding team and teamate, as it stands now, LH is in a much stronger position than he was this time last year. |

Good point about the tyres. Think you've got it spot on. Kovi might even get in on the act but told to move out of the way. Will be interesting to see how the STRs get on after the promise of Valencia. |

Ferrari have to play the team game this weekend. They need a 1-2, and to some extent it doesn't really matter what order they finish in. But they do both need to finish ahead of Hamilton. Otherwise, the races will start running out for their drivers to mount a title challenge (though the constructor's should be theirs) |

Ferrari need to be more concerned about getting both of their cars to the finish before they can worry about what order they come in. They have been haemorrhaging points to McLaren over the last few races, what looked like another safe WCC for them may be about to slip away. |
