There was rumour that Sato will bring Honda engines to TR.

I hope he doesnt go to TR. I cant abide Berger.

Come back to Honda, Sato

I don't think Sato would be a great fit at STR......but to be honest, that seems to be the case with anyone apart from Vettel. And maybe if he brought Honda engines they would treat him with a modicum of kindness.

Would be good to see him back as F1 could do with some race incidents for a change <roflmao>

Honda?

Sato raced for Jordan (2002) BAR (2001 - 2005) & Super Aguri (2006 - 2008)

none of these teams exist today

Erm, technically Jordan and BAR do, it's just that they are called different names and owned by different people. In Jordan's case repeatedly.

to me that means technically they no longer exist... and more to the point Actually they no longer exist...

What does Eddie Jordan do with his time now... apart from landscaping the boulders on his property near Silverstone <whistle>

BAR = Honda in all but name (and performance)

and Sato racing for them has 0 relevance on their change of name.

the Honda F1 team of today is fully independent factory backed outfit... the British American Racing F1 team had Honda involvement... but it was not Honda F1...

I simply stated a FACT, that the THREE teams Sato has SO FAR been contracted to race for NO LONGER exist... I am at a loss as to why this statement of FACT is causing such a problem...

The history and evolution of one team to another is irrelevant to the statement I made... and it's point that STR are not in the best place at the moment and the very fact Sato is no being linked to the team.... raised the question will STR be the FOURTH team that Sato drives for and then will disappear.

How hard is that to fathom... really how hard <think>

The point is the team personnel and how Honda is run barely differs from the BAR days. So in my eyes, he has driven for "Honda" before.

Yes it has a different name... but is probably 95% same personnel. How hard is that for you to fathom?

Teams don't change as much as you think, I recall Coulthard saying he recognised quite a few of the Red Bull team from when he raced for Paul Stewart Racing in F3 about 12 years before..! Think about how many iterations that team had been through.

<roflmao> <roflmao> <roflmao> Yes I understand teams have DNA... BMW is Sauber.... just because a minor shareholder eventually buys the whole team does not mean that it's driver drove for the rebranded team...

Sato drove for.... British American Racing... a Formula One constructor which raced between 1999 to 2005.

BAR began by acquiring Tyrrell, and used Supertec engines for their first year. Subsequently they formed a partnership with Honda which lasted for the next six years.

The team was named after British American Tobacco plc (BAT), which owned and sponsored it in order to display its Lucky Strike and 555 brands.

After 4 seasons...in November 2004 Honda purchased 45% of the team, and in September 2005 purchased the remaining 55% share to become the sole owner.

Consequently BAR Honda became the Honda team for the 2006 Formula One season.

and there I thought you guys really knew about F1... I guess it was only a superficial understanding all along... ah well my mistake <think>

No one disputes that teams have a lineage... but that has nohing to do with my comment on Sato and his former teams.

What we have here is a failure to acknowledge that Sato drove for 3 teams... and that each of the 3 teams he drove for no longer exist...

If anyone can show me a 2008 B.A.R. F1 team car I'd love to see it... <think>

You can't because they as an F1 team they do not exist... just as there is no Jordan or Super Aguri... there is no Wolf, March, Shadow, Stewart, Hesketh, Lotus, Brabham, Tyrrell, Benetton, BRM, Cooper, Alfa Romeo, Vanwall, Maserati, Daimler Benz AG , Ligier or Rob Walker Racing Team

and in case you missed it.... there is no BAR <clap>
