And did you sponsor the lad when I posted the link to his sponsorship page?

Besides, organising a charity day at your own expense and getting the charity some free publicity along with sponsorship helps in the long term. I mean look at the stir it had on here (along with all the bad fish jokes). I'm sure that we are not the only forum to note the story.

When you mention MS's contribution to the Tsunami appeal, how do you know that Ron didn't donate as well? Like you said, lets try a little perspective, the Tsunami killed 250,000 people in minutes and a huge quantity of money was required for emergency relief, hence the large one off donations. A cancer charity is an ongoing concern and receives smaller contributions continuously.

No... But then I only give to charities that I have a personal connection with...

You are of course right as I don't know if Ron didn't donate to the Tsunami appeal but by the same token you don't know that he did...

But as was pointed out previously every little helps and some is better than none.

So well done to philantopist Ron and to all the boys at the McLaren HQ... <clap>

Well, I don't give to charity by subscription but if I see a bit of publicity or a cash box or a mate is doing an event, I'll stick my hand in my pocket. I guess I just do it on impulse. Considering the Tsunami, I don't think there was anyone that didn't give something. Everyone I knew did, though my ex gave me a dirty look when I emptied my pockets (of cash, not rubbish) into a tsunami bucket in Tescos. She was a bit of a tight wad.

Anyway, if I haven't said it already, congradulation to all involved in this charity day on a job well done.
