"Ferrari have finally put rumours that Fernando Alonso will replace Kimi Raikkonen at the end of this season to rest.

Raikkonen has had a largely unimpressive year and the paddock is abuzz with speculation that he might pack it the end of season. Alonso, who returned to Renault at the end of last season for a troubled year with McLaren, is rumoured to be on his way to the Scuderia.

However, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has dismissed the reports, saying the reigning World Champion has their full support.

When asked by Italian if the team's driver line-up will be the same next year Di Montezemolo replied: "Absolutely, yes."

I would agree with keeping Kimi over Fonsie.

I beveive Lucca on this, but this won't put to rest the rumors. I wonder why Alonso hasn't chimed in on this.

Maybe because his contract with Ferrari includes a "ZIP IT" clause?

Only makes sense to keep Kimi for next year, if he is not thinking of retirement. Alonso at Ferrari in '09 would only have been an option had Kimi chosen to retire first.

2010 will be different, however.

Doesn't this usually mean they're on their way out? <whistle>
