Just been on: I agree what he said about Alonso and Kimi and it looks like there not going to be a British GP ~ I see the new place not being ready - ever and there was the dig at the money going to the Olympics and not F1 ~ so nothing new there ~ it only shows how deluded and stupid he and F1 is and also a lot of sloppy reporting about the cost - if you need help on this PM me and I give you a break down The program is called sports week and the BBC normally makes it available to down load etc link is here http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/programmes/sportsweek.shtml Mark |

Why is he deluded and stupid for wondering why the government is quite happy to spend £9.3BN on a two-week event yet can't even find a few million quid for the home of the Grand Prix at the country which is the self proclaimed home of motorsport? When you look at the money which other countries have pumped into their new tracks, and even the existing ones, it makes a stark comparison. Do we want to end up with no GP at all, or maybe the silly alternating arrangement like they have in Germany, or how about falling down advertising signs like Brazil? We should have the best track and facilities in the world, yet no-one seems bothered about doing anything to make it happen. They are the stupid and deluded ones! |

it a strange argument you come out with: the figure you quoted about the Olympic is just plain wrong - go and read the reports not from an MP/Government or a news paper - I say go to the IOC or 2012 web page to start with because the answer is that only a fraction of that money is from the Government - remember 2-3 billion been set aside for over spend, a billion or so been included for upgrading the water supply - paid by Thames water - the replacement of power lines to underground paid for by the electric company/national grid (not sure of figure), also include gas and road and environmental clean and upgrades as well. Also included in the figures are the upgrades to the underground and station included in the figure the figure being disingenuous quoted is for everything period not just to stage the games - that why the original figure was so low it was just for the cost of the games - it was only after London got the games that they came clean about the total cost. now the plus money side that not been factored into the cost - I am not 100% sure here of the figures or some of this been included in the head line figure but here goes - the figures quoted do not include the money getting back from sponsorship, selling of the village after the games, lottery money, selling of tickets. The government and tax payers are getting money back already, if you been watching the photo and web site of the 2012 build there now a total regeneration of the area - the latest showing there started to build the biggest shopping mall in Europe thank to the Olympic building plus there a lot of now homes and flats being build in an area of London that never had any thing done for it before. Remember London tax payers are paying from there land tax money into the pot for the funding of the Olympics as well also take into the account of what the last mayor of London said and done - he was only funding and looking at the long term effect - he mugged the current Government and used the Olympics as a Trojan horse to make sure the east London got the power, water and transport upgrades that he wanted and London needed - basically this was never going to happen if it was not for the Olympics. - new home school water power etc etc why should my tax money get paid to the short person that got a billion or five in the bank and where F1 and teams or million/billion pounds/Euro companies - then you mix in the set up of UK moter sport and the likes of the BDRC - just look at the Italy and the court case a year or so back - some one that living next to the race track went to court a sued because there where too much noise etc - getting back to money again I am sure that the EU will block any direct government money going to pay for a GP any way get over it and start living in the real world (this is not a person attack at you) - the UK government will not and never fund the British GP - hell will freeze over first I do wish the new home of the F1 GP luck - remember the new access roads to the tack will not be paid for or by F1 but by the Government taxes and new power and water lines will be paid by the users of the services Mark |

We both know that, and so does Bernie. However, notwithstanding this don't you think it's a little hypocritical even if there are other long term advantages to the area in which the improvements for the Olympics take place? I bet the consultancy fees are less than they'd need to tart up Silverstone! |

There been so much double speak about this I not sure if the short one knows which way is up ~ have you heard what he said about soccer and his club he (I think he) owns I used to live in Milton Keynes and it was a great place to be when the F1 was on - there a few F1 related companies located there I fully understand what you saying there - but the thing is what going to done about it - the local council and government not going to do a thing about it or can not afford it I do not now about the fees being paid but look at it this way - when an ex Chelsea owner was in charge of a soccer ground being build in North London - he over saw a spend of 40-80 million pounds on a hotel being designed for it even through he was told they did not have permission and could not apply for permission to have one included in the plan.
