He gets fined... but it wasn't his fault??? "I think it wasn't very clever from his (Sutil's) side," the Brazilian asserted, "as even if he went out in front of me he needed to let me by, because I was the leader and he was being lapped. When I saw him I expected him to back off. I had stopped behind him in the pit-stop and we left together. When he was passing me by I was leaving the garage, so we were side-by-side. "It was a shame to fight with him in the pit-lane. I needed to back off as we were very close and it was quite narrow and the wall was getting narrower and narrower, so I didn't want to take the risk. I lost a lot of time, but fortunately the gap (to Lewis Hamilton behind) was enough. "I didn't do anything wrong. I think if it was under investigation it was more for Adrian; it was nothing to do with me. You need to respect the line, because we're all going at the same speed. We've seen these things happen many times - especially when everybody comes into the pit-lane together - both cars going side-by-side down the pit-lane, so for me it was completely normal. It's just racing. "I don't think it was dangerous; it was just unexpected from Adrian because I was leading and I was beside him, so in the worst case he needed to let me by in the first or second corner. I left a margin because I didn't want to risk anything. I don't see any problem." http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/25082008/23/...eliability.html |

Your point.... It is not like it hasn't happened before that a driver get penalised for a team error. besides €10,000 fine in F1 terms is a slapped wrist... a real fine for bad behaviour would be €100,000,000.... sound familiar

It was a complete shambles this weekend and more sensible of us can see that The ones who aren’t viewing this through Ferrari tinted spectacles, anti-Hamilton tinted spectacles, or pedantic John spectacles The people who are able to call it down the middle, like me, Lord Tau etc it was a clear penalty, everyone knows it they just can’t accept it |

I am a lewis fan... not that bothered by Ferrari and I have voted no I take all the points about it happening before and the other guy getting the immediate fine but I based it on what I said to Mr Pebs at the time... I blamed the team for letting him go and, therefore, felt the team should be punished with a fine rather than the driver.. the driver who did give way and lost some time... clearly no advantage to him with the other incident which happened - poor pit crew getting carried out of the pits - will Ferrari be asked to look at their system? I feel a lollypop man should be back in place

As to the Ferrari system, I doubt a lollipop man would have made a difference. Kimi really just wanted to go!

Maybe someone standing in front of him would have deterred him somewhat.

I think I'll sit on the fence on this one. I agree that there was a potential for an accident and that may be the release of Massa was a bit risky, but also, the nature of the pitlane actually cause as much of the problem. The exit to the pit is way too narrow and curves and the danger is compounded by the saefty car being parked in an obstructive position. What I want to know is, are the stewards for the GP2 races the same ones for F1. We can all argue about consistency but remember that these things can come down to individual interpretation. Obviously, as a Hamilton fan, a penalty for Massa would have been a nice result but I won't let my personal allegance sway my opinion, if the stewards and other teams are happy then so am I. |

yeah, I heard the lovely Mr Brundle say something about him going before the system was telling him he could... James might have said something but I try to tune him out but if that is the case - surely that should be looked at cos that was clearly dangerous to the poor bloke who couldnt even get up - what was the news on him anyway? |

From the replay, the lioght certainly wasn't green. On the whole, a rather dissatisfactory weekend from Kimi. I think Ferrari need to have words with him. |

The argument that an immediate punishment was applied in the GP2 race is vacuous because, until Max's daft "promotion/relegation" idea comes into force, GP2 is a different series to F1. It isn't even governed by the FIA. In the past, in Formula One, Article 23.1 of the Sporting regs has been treated as a bit of a redundant rule, a little like the one prohibiting team orders. Why should Massa have been punished for something countless others have got away with, most recently Vettel at the German GP? And in any case, Massa has now been punished, so surely those calling for a penalty against him have no cause for complaint anymore? In response to Pebs, the Ferrari mechanic suffered an injured foot but was thankfully otherwise fine.
